HVO supports local jobs and contributes millions of dollars each year to the community. Without HVO there would be thousands of lost jobs both direct and indirectly.

I believe this is nothing but a great thing for the region. The coal industry still provides a critical role in supporting the local area and creating employment for thousands of people. Without the continuity of this project, many people's lives will be disrupted and left with employment volatility. Many local areas are built on the premise of the local coal employment and attract people to the area. If not for the expansion of a coal project like this, these local areas will suffer and not be able to sustain local businesses. This is nothing but great news for the local areas and people associated with the project directly or indirectly.

The expansion of HVO will support the local community through continued employment of direct employees, contractors and further. In these uncertain times with recessions looming it is important that large employers such as HVO maintain operations.

I support this project.
During the transition to a low carbon future, we require access to cheap, realiable base load power. Currently this power is provided by coal. The coal from the Hunter Valley is high quality, lower emission coal (compared to some of the alternatives). To minimise the impact on the environment, we should be maximising the use of this higher quality coal.

I also support the mining industry, and the wonderful work they do in supporting our communities through donations and support in kind. Several years ago I was involved in a high school tutoring project that encouraged young mining professionals to donate their time to help struggling students catch up on work they had missed at school. This is a wonderful example of the quiet work that happens in the background, that many people do not realise would not be possible without a strong local mining industry.

Thank you

The future of HVO South is vital to the economy of the Hunter Valley and State of NSW. Not only through the coal they mine for domestic and international markets but for the people they employ, their families , the community, local businesses and their ability to provide a wide range of career options for generations to come. If approved there will be employment opportunities for approximately 1500 people, what other industry can add that type of security in a regional area? HVO have made a commitment to continue their support of local businesses and to make the roads and bridge near the mine a safer, more reliable route, particularly in wet weather. All areas of the environment and final voids have been considered and are included in HVO's planning for the future.

The HVO continuation project is vitally important to the employees and contractors who live and work in the Hunter Valley and other nearby areas. This project is a continuation of an existing project that has a significant benefit to the local communities of Singleton and Muswellbrook. Each year HVO contributes many millions in direct wages which are then spent by workers in and around the local community. When the flow on effects of this expenditure are multiplied it cannot be underestimated how many people are positively affected by this project.

This project is able to maximise the resource recovery within an existing mining area that also leverages off existing infrastructure of the HVO CHPP’s and rail loop so from a net disturbance point of view this project should be encouraged and promoted for the benefit of the State. There are significant ongoing State Royalties to be gained from this project which means that all people in NSW will benefit from a successful approval. The benefits to the HVO employees and contractors, the people of NSW, local businesses, communities and from the revenue to the State cannot be undersold when considering the project.
I fully support this project.
