Hunter Valley operations, assisted me in getting a trade and has given me a full time job. It’s a place I’m proud to work at and gives me a constant education, the project also supports the local communities and provides an amazing opportunity for youthful individuals with an excellent apprenticeship program!

I support the continuation of HVO South open cut coal project into the future as HVO has a strong commitment of mining coal efficiently and effectively rehabilitating the surrounding landscape back to how it should be. The mining of coal remains a critical resource and provides the energy which each and every single one of us uses on a daily basis for our essential needs. Coal is the number one source of power generation in the modern world which we live in

I believe coal exports are an important export for Australia. Revenue shared in the community is needed to support our hospitals and schools and roads. Burning coal to create energy in a modern coal fired power station has only a small impact on Climate Change, a change in climate that is happening now and will continue, we can’t change its inevitability we can only manage the effects of change. I support the HVO Continuation Project 100%.

Keeps people in the area of HVO in a secure job and the company can bring on traineeships and apprenticeship programs that’ll help the future’s society.

As an Apprentice with HVO it gives me so many opportunities and we need a future specially with the type of quality coal that we are mining, this will help with future generations of people who are trying to make a living, the continuation will help with the cost of living expenses rising.

I strongly support the continued operations of Hunter Valley Operations. HVO is the sole source of income that allows me to provide for my family and reside in the Hunter Region. Without this employment in the future, we would be forced to leave the area and find an alternate industry to work in.
I believe that this is a reality for the other 1500 employees and contractors directly engaged at HVO, not to mention the local families employed in supporting businesses' that HVO supports.
The continuation of existing operations at HVO is vital .

Hunter Valley Operations has supported me and my family for a long time through employment of many people in my extended family.
HVO also supports many in the local community through charitable donations and schemes to assist local organizations.
HVO employs around 1600 direct employees and a couple of thousand others indirectly through their suppliers.
HVO has a reach right through the Hunter Valley with employees from all areas not just the upper Hunter.
HVO pay millions of dollars of royalties to the state government which is used to pay for education, health and policing.
Recently HVO has assist those outside the Hunter Valley who have been effected by the recent flooding with donation of Christmas gifts built by HVO employees at recent training days.

This mine needs to be kept open in order to provide cheap electricity to NSW, without it, the living costs will continue to soar.
The mine provides many jobs and keeps people living in country towns, allowing small businesses to stay open. Even businesses that aren't related to the mine will be negatively impacted if majority of the towns population move to seek work, or have no income, thus effecting the entire region of the Hunter Valley.
The mine abides by its environmental regulations and doesn't impact the surrounding towns negatively.

In conclusion, it is vital that this mine gets continued as it provides an income for thousands of people, allows hundreds of businesses to operate and provides NSW with a lot of electricity that otherwise cannot be created cheaply, if at all.

It is a real draw card for mining in NSW and I know personally that hvo takes safety, community and environment very seriously. This expansion is crucial to mine and a lot of my friends and families future.

HVO supports my family, allows me and supports me being an active member of my community. The butterfly acffect of the operation into the hunter valley is huge we support local businesses weather it buy fuel or crib on the way to work or the amount of small business that provide goods or services to this operation.

As a local family and community member of the upper hunter valley and currently work at HVO this project has helped support my family through local schools and sporting groups and without this project going ahead my family could be forced to relocate out of the area and away from family.
HVO is committed to its work force and has a genuine care for environment and community.
Please support HVO to extend it mine life so it can continue to provide support to local communities.

I support this project being approved as it will give the Upper Hunter job security into the future.
The flow on effect to the continuation of the project goes further than just jobs. There is a financial benefit with support of nation wide charities as well as the HVO grants that are provided for local charities & sporting associations that would not happen if the project was not to continue.
Possibly the biggest positive in regards to this project being approved is that this is not an expansion, it is an extension of time. The continuation plan is to extend the life of mine utilising the current footprint that HVO already has approved to mine.
Part of the extension to the Life of Mine is to realign Lemington Road & build a flood proof bridge over the Hunter River. Why is this a good thing?
At any time there is a major incident on either the New England Hwy, or the Golden Hwy, Lemington Road becomes a diversion of highway traffic to keep the flow of traffic moving. If there is a major incident on either of these roads, and the low level Hunter River Crossing, Moses Crossing, is flooded which it had been for some 6 months in 2022, this would all but create grid lock in the Upper Hunter.
This new bridge would be an alternate route during these unfortunate times to keep traffic flowing. Just another positive for the projects approval.
