I support the proposal for the ongoing economic benefits to the local area as well as the ongoing employment that hvo provides to many members of the community, both direct and indirect employment. The denial of this proposal would have significant impact on many local individuals and families due to the loss of ongoing stable employment the mine provides. It would also impact many local businesses that the mine directly supports as well as those supported by the employees themselves having significant economic impacts on the local area.

I support this proposal as it provides immediate employment on site as hvo employees as well as many other contract businesses such as the service departments, boilermakers, fitter on site and also 3rd party local businesses that provide manufactured goods for all sections on site from on the field in the cut to the office.
This site is also a diverse company with a zero tolerance to bullying and harassment, leading to a safe and happy work environment and I myself enjoy working on site.

In conclusion hunter valley operations looks after it’s employees, sets a high standard for safety and has regulations and procedures to ensure the protection of the environment and neighbouring suburbs.

This project supports continued jobs in the local area while promoting a responsible extraction of resources. Offshore alternatives have been shown to be less environmentally responsible and lower quality, and it is these concerning coal producers that would be required to provide for the shortfall of non-approved Australian coal projects in order to accommodate the world's energy needs

As a resident who lives near the mine, I fully support the extension. I can directly see both the economic and environmental benefits of HVO are a necessity for the livelihood of the upper hunter

The continuation of this project is vital for the future of the Hunter Valley. The royalties paid to pay for our health care, schooling and emergency services are invaluable. Without projects like this we will lose things such as health care.

I work for glencore and also live locally to HVO. This expansion will keep a lot of people in work. With the closure of another mines in the valley, there is going to be large exit of people as there will not be the employment to keep them here.

The mine provides employment opportunities for a large number of direct and indirect employees within the local and wider communities. The support provided to communities through grants and assistance allows the community organisations to better support people in need.

My husband and I moved to the Hunter Valley in late 2012 for an employment opportunity in mining when I was pregnant with our first child. Not long after, we bought a house in Singleton for our young family.

Since that time our son has gone to school in Singleton and joined the Singleton Junior Rugby Club. I’ve worked for several local small businesses and mining companies and my husband now work directly for HVO. I am an Admin on a small Facebook page called Singleton Mums that I started in 2013 after having our son and realising there was a need for a medium for local mums to reach out and connect and stay informed about things directly affecting us in our local area. We now have over 3,000 members and many of them have moved here with their families for work in mining. We’ve sold our first house and built a new house in Singleton using a local building company and contractors. We are turning this into our dream home with the help of local businesses and friends in the area.

All of this is continues to be made possible by the continuation of HVO and other mining projects in the region. We have seen what happens in Singleton and the Upper Hunter during a serious mining downturn in 2013 and ’14. Eight years later and there are still empty shop fronts on the main street of Singleton from businesses that closed at that time. The effect will be similar as mines begin to close and if HVO is not allowed to continue mining beyond its current consents, the effect in the near future will be heavily felt by my family and our community.

In short, I support this project as it supports me, my family, and the community in which we live.

Since that time our son has gone to school in Singleton and joined the Singleton Junior Rugby Club. I have volunteered in a local service organisation and as a coach at the Singleton Junior Rugby Club. My wife has worked for several local businesses in this time. We’ve sold our first house and built a new house in Singleton using a local building company and contractors.
