I support the project as it has a large positive effect to the local community. Hunter Valley Operations get involved, help out and support local communities. The continuation of this project is relied upon by thousands of direct and indirect employees and contractors who are members of the community. The loss of this project would have a devastating outcome for a large number of local families and businesses and also a huge loss for the NSW economy as a whole.

as in my other submission i am absolutely for the continuiation of the project, i have worked in different departments since starting my career in mining in 2009 i got offered my first full time role with xstrata, full time, annual leave, paid, sick leave, learning opportunities and other entitlements. HVO offers this to 1500 people. i am 29 years old and need to provide for my family for the next 39 years before i can access my super. so this continuation is very important to me. upper management and planning department have plans in place for the future of the mine and the final look of the land once completed the mining of the coal in 3D format. one final void for the pit is all that is left and the rest of the mine wont even look like its been touched. finaicially and mentally i need this place to continue. i am an operator in the west pit and would be happy to talk to anyone that is opposed to this project moving forward and explain to them why i need and they also need the project to continue.

To the board , I wish to offer my views why the proposed HVO continuation project should be approved , first of all the funds , projects & help that the mine donates to the community , also the ripple effect of all the small businesses tha benefit from the Hunter Valley mines , i live in singleton and am always sadened when i see shops empty and up for lease , not a good sign for the health and prosperty of our town, i moved to the hunter for work , we want to buy and live here for the long term , with your approval it will ensure that i can call the Hunter region home for many years to come yours sincerely Richard Brown

HVO is a vital workplace in the Hunter Region. It's large scale provides direct jobs for 1500+ employees. Not only does HVO employ directly, they contract employees, which further creates local jobs. As an apprentice of this workplace, I have received endless amounts of training which I would not be provided with elsewhere. HVO is well backed by the community and often receives positive feedback from locals. HVO prides themselves on giving back to our local community (Singleton). This project fuels the economy throughout the Hunter Valley.

The continuation of mining at HVO provides a career opportunity in a regional area close to family and friends. HVO provides employment and a decent income to support a family without having to relocate to a major city for work. The approval of the development consent will allow this to continue for an extended period whilst the region ultimately transitions away from coal mining.

I am employed by HVO and have been there for over 15 years and hopefully will retire here. Being a resident of Singleton, the opportunities I have had since I have been here (1997) have all been given by the mines around this area. I have worked as a contractor for various companies, providing my skills and expertise to mines around the area which led to a permanent job at Hunter Valley Operations as a Boilermaker. The Continuation Project will provide myself and my family with financial stability, particularly for when I decide to retire. Also this project will help support families and businesses throughout the Hunter Valley.
