I support the project application as the proposal gives thousands of families a future. Hvo also support multiple local and government organisations on a financial level.
Hvos commitment to rehabilitate the land in which is mined is a massive positive as once the mine is all wrapped up it will be like we ha E never been here.

Hvo is my job and supports my family. Continuation of the project means stability and prosperity for my family in the local area.

The revenues from HVO have a significant and positive impact through wages and support to local business in the community.

The sustainable extraction of high-quality coal is better for the environment as we transition to a world that doesn't use fossil fuel, a process that cannot happen in the short term.

The economic outcomes that Australian resources, sold to overseas markets, is good for all Australians.

The continuation of this project provides me and my family with much needed stability and ongoing income. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find long term stable permanent employment.

Industries support communities. Closing another mine will only hurt the workers and the communities around them. Keep HVO open.

This project is vital to the communities of the Hunter and Upper Hunter. Without mining towns like Cessnock and Singleton would cease to exist. Not to mention taking thousands of jobs away from local people in an economy already facing severe decline, would have dire consequences to the further state of the local economy. It would force a majority of locals to have to sell their houses and move to other towns, additionally the personal and mental health strain this would create would have serious effects on the township. Mining is currently not matched in the reliability and volume of power it supplies. Mining must continue until something that can match coal fired power exists, and all employees of the mining industry are guaranteed jobs. We can’t save a planet by causing more problems.

Hi, I support the submission( an extension of mine life) for the following three reasons;
1. An extension of mine life would allow for the continued; safe, responsible and efficient extraction of coal resources, that are vital for smelting and meeting energy needs in a rational, reliable and realistic manner. Demand for Coal remains strong as reflected by its current price and price trend over the last few years. Failure to extend mine life will impact the less advantaged most as they lose an import fuel for the supply of reliable, economically viable energy.

2. This project generates work for over a thousand direct employees and an important avenue for young professionals and tradespeople to pursue a career in mining both directly and indirectly through the multitude of small and medium local businesses that service the mine directly and vicariously through its direct employees. Failure to extend mine life will result in significant loss of direct employment, resulting in massive economic and social loss/distress in addition to an array of secondary and tertiary impacts throughout the Valley more broadly. A failure to extend mine life will result in less available royalties for environmental protection as well as building and maintaining the vital infrastructure we all rely on.

3. As technology improves, new applications will be found for coal, each mine site presents unique challenges/opportunities. Failure to extend mine life will result in loosing human capital, expertise and tradcraft .

I am employed to work on the HVO Continuation Project however my views here are my own and I am proud to support the HVO South Continuation Project.
I started my working career as an apprentice at HVO South at what was then BBC Lemington Mine in the 1980's. This mine gave me the start in my career and I believe young people today should have that same opportunity to start their career with HVO. HVO as a complex has a long history and has supported a lot of people's careers. It has therefore supported a lot of livelihoods and families in the process. I support this project because of the opportunities and employment it can provide in the future.

I work at HVO, My dad works at HVO. Multiple of my friends and family all work at HVO. It isn’t just a mine site. It is an income for a stable family that would have nowhere else to work. With majority of the other mine sites closing down soon. My dad & friends who are operators here would have nowhere to go. It isn’t just an extension to the pit, it’s an extension for peoples will to live.
