I would like to support this project due to the maintained jobs it supports for this area. The footprint is mainly already mined land with deeper seams being mined. It makes sense to continue the operation with already affected land.
The need of electricity continues with infrastructure to renewable option not going to be ready in time. The Australians emissions is nothing to what the world produces and it's about time the government started looking after the future of their people rather then the radical minority.

Sincerely
Paul Murray.

I have been an employee at HVO mine for over 30 years. I'm supportive of both the North and South proposals.
The mine has always supported the local community, employees both direct and indirect for many years and hopefully many years to come.
My son is in his 4th year as an electrical apprentice working with Glencore hoping to have a long and successful career.
This is a viable proposal that will continue to support the area and the families of those that work here.

There will be no change in the scale of the mines operation and it will bring in thousands of jobs from all over the state.

As a current contractor within HVO infrastructure team I rely on this expansion to help guarantee future employment for myself and other family members within the industry. Towns in the surrounding areas such as Singleton, Branxton and Huntlee also rely on the flow on from employees who support these local communities. Not only is this through spending locally but also companies which supply to this mine or other contracting companies working at HVO.

Renewable energy isn't in a position to fully take over from coal and nor will it be for an extended period of time. It is important moving forward that we globally take a balanced approach when looking at our current climate crisis. To me despite being progressive with environmental causes I don't see the sense in shutting down large mines, where there is a known commodity with relatively low gas levels and easy access. Australian coal is good quality, we export the coal to countries that have much more up to date technology that further reduces the emissions and the negatives associated with coal.

Renewable energies are much more destructive and costly to extract, no large copper deposits have been found in decades, there is only a finite amount of lithium etc. Unless Australia goes to nuclear the reality is we will need coal here too moving forward, of course we will need to make more efficient power stations to lessen our emissions but coal will still be an integral part to society if we want to continue living with the current luxury's that we have today. Stop the opening of small barely economic new mines yes but allow ones such as HVO to continue on.

Not only this but the royalties are important to go towards paying for health and education, the Australian economy can not continue being strong without coal. HVO also employs a large amount of local drive in drive out workers and help support local business and communities such as at Jerrys Plains through purchasing fuel and food and in both Singleton and Musswellbrook doing much the same as well as having familys as local community members, students in schools, workers renting houses, buying houses etc

I believe mining should be allowed to continue at HVO south as it is good for the local community and good for the local and national economy, Australia also relies a lot on mining and not just coal, mining kept Australia out of the global financial crisis in 2009 and is again keeping Australia afloat in another world financial crisis.

I work in the mining industry and my family work in support industries. We also live in the area. I believe there is still a need/market for coal going forward. The world is not yet in a position where we can stop mining coal sustainably.
• This not a new mine. They have been mining here for 70 years.
• There’ll be little change to the scale or intensity of mining and no increase to approved annual production rates.
I believe it would be irresponsible of the Government to not approve bearing in mind the impact that would have on the nearby communities, surrounding industries and the need still for coal.

I support this project.
HVO has always been focused on its commitment to Health, Safety, Community and Environment. HVO is a large employer in the local Singleton region. The business supports both local and regional businesses. HVO provides solid stewardship of the resource we have been permitted to extract. Over many years HVO has made and still invests into the local community and the region. The state of NSW benefits as a whole from the royalties paid onto the governments.

As a 54-year-old who has only recently re-entered the mining industry at HVO, I am grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me, not just as an individual but as father, grandfather, and partner. This opportunity has given myself and my family the security that we have been searching for, and the continuation project secures my families future. I, like thousands of other employees, contractors, and suppliers of HVO, are all incredibly dependant upon the continuation of this project. Without it, our futures are far less brighter than they are today!
