Continuation of mining at HVO are the boosts in jobs, wages and community funding that HVO make to local towns and regions.
My family and I rely on HVO for my income.
As the footprint of the mine isn't actually changing, I can't see why there should be any reason not to approve the project.

I would like to express my support for the project.

The importance that HVO has on the local jobs and economy through local businesses cannot be understated especially with other large employers in the area like Liddell Power Station planned closure in the near future.

The relocation of Lemington Road and removal of Moses Crossing is a big win as the road has been closed for the majority of the last 12 due to flooding or road conditions. So also is the consolidation of the final land form to a single void north and south for the long term land usage.

I hope that the full socioeconomic factors are considered in your assessment and that the project is approved.

Yours Sincerely
James Murray.

HVO is an existing mine not a new one. It already employs a large number of local people and supports a large number of local businesses.
To deny the continuation of this mine site would have a dramatic negative effect on a huge number of local people and businesses.

HVO is an integral supporter of the local Singleton and greater Hunter Valley/NSW region. I have been an employee at HVO for 13 years and have been a Singleton local for same amount of time. HVO brought myself and my family to the region from interstate in 2010. Since then 2 of my children have completed schooling in Singleton and are working locally. I would love to see HVO continue brill 2050 to allow the next generation of my family to remain in this wonderful part of Australia.
HVO not only provides employment for direct employees and contractors but extends influence to many other businesses whether a supplier or a cafe or service station that Employees visit daily.
I truly believe that HVO should continue in its best practice mining , processing and rehabilitation for the duration of the applied for consent.
Regards, Matt.

The project supports local jobs and businesses. It is not expanding into new areas, so this mine should be allowed to continue to help with affordable energy.

HVO supports many local businesses and for the amount of jobs supplied permanent and temporary that if it was to not move forward the impact on the hunter valley economy would be major. They have a strong commitment to the safety of its workers and local community’s surrounding it.

I am very much in support, of the South Project as well, for all the opportunities that this project will. present to community and the nation at large, in the areas of employment, benefits for so many families, employment assurance for university students. Thermal coal still a big part to play in the energy sector, despite the introduction of renewable energy.

I support the HVO North and South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project.
I am an employee at Hunter Valley Operations.
I live locally in Singleton with my young family and I have lived in the Singleton area my entire life.
My young family go to school in Singleton and the region needs this approval to go ahead for the area to continue to survive with us spending and returning to the local community.
My father worked at Hunter Valley Operations before he retired.
It is a safe great workplace, with so many opportunities for the employees.
I am leading the HME Replacement Project in the acquirement and purchasing all the new heavy mining equipment for the future of the operation, ensuring that the machines with the latest technology, safety systems, and the most environmentally friendly machines that suit the operation are chosen and introduced to site to lead us into the future.
Coal will always be a requirement and Glencore provides a sustainable approach to extracting the reserves whilst providing minimal impact to the area and surrounds.
Once again, I am in support the HVO North and South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project.

As a mother and science teacher I understand the science of global warming. The UN, the IPCC and scientists have made it clear that we need reduce our reliance on coal. If we want to keep emissions below 1.5 degrees Celsius we need to take action now. It makes no sense for our children's future to keep mining and burning coal.
Not only do we need to consider the carbon dioxide emissions this coal could contribute to but there have been enormous consequences for the region's groundwater and surface water resources including: discharge of saline mine wastewater into nearby water ways and extraction of water from Hunter River and other waterways.
The expansion of the mine would be a disaster for biodiversity with large areas of critically endangered ecological communities being destroyed.
The only sensible decision for the government is to reject the expansion of HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project to take into the impact on the environment and the future of our children and future generations.
