As a resident of 40 years and concerned with the natural heritage of the area and supportive of Council's efforts to protect it I urge the State Government to reject these attempts to relax planning conditions previously accepted by the developer. All too often developers seek to persuade authorities to remove environmental conditions. Koalas especially desperately need appropriate mechanisms like enhanced primary habitat , fencing and traffic calming measures to ensure their survival into the future. This developer has a history of not respecting our precious resources and should not be rewarded by removing previously agreed to conditions.

Dear Council/Councillor,
I object to these modifications of the Kings Forest Development Project.
The project was approved (and advertised itself) on the basis of a building concept which was based on a strong emphasis to respect the environment on which it is situated.
These modifications would specifically and drastically change the basis on which the project was approved. Approval of these modifications would mean that the development would no longer reflect the concepts on which the project was approved.
I propose these modifications be denied under the currently approved project plans. If these modifications are necessary for the development, then the project should be resubmitted for approval.
Thank you for the invitation to submit my input. It is appreciated.

Because the attitude, actions, and reactions of the proposer of this development have been , and over a considerable period of time; it follows that no approval for development of this site should be granted to this developer,(or any other); until have been completed to restore the site to that which it held before any development proposal was made. THESE COSTS TO BE MADE AGAINST THE APPLICANT.

PR-PC] Kings Forest Project Application Modification (Council Reference DA11/0565.03 Department's Reference MP08/0194 MOD 4) which Seeks Approval for a Revised Koala Plan of Management for Kings Forest Development No. 86 Melaleuca Road, Kings Forest.

I oppose this proposed modification. Given that koalas on the Tweed coast have been listed as an Endangered Population since the original concept plan and project were approved, I have several major concerns.

1. Primary habitat is needed in the koala offsets to help increase koala numbers by including a substantial number of preferred food sources for koalas. However, the proposed koala offsets are largely secondary in this proposal.

2. There is no inclusion of the management of existing koala habitat in the proposed Koala Plan of Management. This is unacceptable.

3. It is of utmost importance that environmental monitoring is completed in the area before any major works are undertaken. It is unacceptable that the developer proposes to delay surveying and maintaining environmental lands until major earthworks are completed.

4. The developer has not provided a second east-west wildlife corridor that is required by condition B4 of the approved Concept Plan.

5. Proposed changes in Conditions 45 and 46 and 147 of the Project Approval would seriously weaken the protection for koalas in the area. These changes should not be allowed.

I urge the department to reject these modifications and guarantee that the original conditions of the Concept Plan and Project Approval remain in place for the benefit of the koala population.

sincerely

Will the Koala Environmenatl Management Plan be in place before site works begin?

I object if adequate measures have not been taken to sustain the Koala populations at and around the residential and commercial development sites of Kings Forest NSW and an adequate Koala Environmental Management Plan is not in place before ground works begin.

The developer should not be allowed to request amendments after the DA was approved. Should be made to abide by the original koala management plan.

Hello,

I am writing to voice my grave concern about the development at Kings Forest "mini city". I believe that the
developer is now asking the State Government to downgrade or dismiss the koala protection measures already agreed upon.

This is very upsetting - I know this area well and dread that our koalas are under such as threat.

Please do NOT allow these developers to break their promises
We need our koalas to be kept safe as agreed upon.

Thank you in advance for doing the right thing by our iconic koalas.

Kind regards,
Yvonne Fessler

Do NOT allow the developers or anyone else to water down the environmental protections for this development, particularly in relation to the local Koala population.

The protections were agreed to in good faith by the developer, and they should not be allowed to water them down in any way whatsoever. It is a total disgrace and a kick in the guts to the local community.

The Koala population in the Tweed region is struggling (mainly due to development) so it's extremely important that we do everything within our power to protect them and ENCOURAGE the Koala population.

I strongly object to modification 4 because
1 - it will destroy all the local koalas by destroying their habitat
2 - by not keeping to their environmental agreement, koalas have nowhere to live, safely travel or have enough food trees thereby subjecting their lives to hardship and cruelty. Thus achieving their devastation.

I believe the Tweed Council, and state government , should not agree to such and requests.

Surely it is not too much to ask that we try and protect our critically endangered National emblem. The developer MUST be made to adhere to to original conditions approved.

Please deny this application for modification from the original as it is without merit. The evidence is already there via numerous studies and assessments. We need more koala food trees, habitat, buffer zones and have these areas protected. Not Less!!

Dear Sir/Madam,

I refer to the above project modification for Kings Forest and find the rationale and supporting documentation lacks any scientific (or evidenced-based) justification to warrant approval.

Adequate koala corridors (100m minimum) and primary food tree plantings should be non-negotiable conditions for a development of this scale in the region. Any proposed alternative planting of koala feed trees within future urban areas is a recipe for disaster and this should not be regarded as a substitute for the current approved conditions.

If the State Government is serious about improving the plight of our koala in NE NSW, then it needs to flatly refuse what is simply an ambit application to modify the core approval conditions for this site.

I oppose any reduction of ecosystems that koalas live in. The original plan must not be modified.

To whom it may concern,
The NSW Scientific Committee has determined the Tweed Coast koala population to be Endangered, yet the proponent of the Kings Forest development is seeking approval to implement a significantly weakened Koala Plan of Management agreed to in 2012. The proposed loss of any further koala habitat or koala protection provisions is totally unacceptable.

It would be criminal to alter/make weaker existing protection orders in place for the koalas in the Kings Forest Residential Development. Our government is NOT protecting our wildlife. Development is destroying habitat at an alarming rate. When will the government STOP and listen to the people ??? The protection of koalas needs to be made stronger NOT weaker!!
