Bluescope Steel is a NSW icon and the heart of Wollongong community. I whole-heartedly support this project particularly because of the need for domestically manufactured steel and because of the companies commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. I believe that they can make excellent utilisation of Australia's renewable energy transition and bio-carbon resources and this therefore supports the industry as a whole. I also believe that imported steel is likely to support off-shore jobs in manufacturing and is less likely to be environmentally friendly. As a nation, we should embrace our domestic manufacturing capacity and support its efforts to make low carbon products, which could be the envy of the world.
