I strongly object to Modification 4 of the Flyers Creek Wind Farm. As
medical practitioner my primary concerns are those of well documented
health impacts. The significant increase proposed for the size of the
industrial wind turbines to be used will, at the very least,
exacerbate these negative health impacts.
I have made submissions concerning the FCWF over the many years that
this project has been in the making: submissions for the original
proposal, modification 2, modification 3 and to the Planning &
Assessment Commission in 2014.
I refer you to these for a full discussion of health impacts.
Since 2014 the health concerns have not conveniently disappeared but,
in fact, continue to be reported both nationally and internationally.
It is an absolute disgrace that government agencies will not address
these issues.
Rather than re-iterate my previous arguments and information I attach
my submission to the PAC. It outlines my very real concerns in detail.
More research (never enough!) has been conducted since then and this
has more than adequately been covered in the FCWTAG submission.
Suffice to say the studies and research that have been undertaken and
reported since 2014 have re-enforced the view that the impacts of
noise (particularly low frequency sound and infrasound) have a
physiological and anatomical basis. This takes it beyond the
characterisation of those complaining of health impacts as the
"nocebo" effect or the wild imaginings of uninformed residents living
in proximity to wind turbines.
My 2014 PAC submission has an Appendix which covers additional aspects
to the wind power generation debate. Some of the more political
comments may have changed a little with time but essentially remain
solidly valid.
My charge to the NSW DoPE is to objectively re-evaluate the whole FCWF
project. In it's present location it is completely inappropriate and
its impacts will effect too many people. To consider actually
enlarging it is beyond credibility.
