I object to this being advertised with a closing date of mid January. Those most affected by this are far too busy during the holiday season to respond.
My concerns relate to road safety and how the increase in truck movements at that location will impact on anyone who drives Nelson Bay Road. Did not the RMS identify that this section of Nelson Bay Road is the only non dual road section (ie, between Marsh Road and Lemon Tree Passage roundabout? There is no alternate way for us to get around any accident, except by helicopter. Any increase at all, regardless of filter lanes is risky. It is risky enough already, particularly when Janet Parade is located not very far at all from the Pitshop Petrol Station, one which has the cheapest petrol around and there are always vehicles exiting this service station and this is dangerous eough already. Throw in a sand truck accelerating to come onto Nelson Bay Road and you have a very dangerous mix. My other concern relates to trucks making a right hand turn into Janet Lane. Another extremely dangerous manoevre (it is already!) given that Nelson Bay Road is 80 km per hour along there but not many do that speed, having increased speed down the hill near March Road. I cannot for the life of me believe that RMS believes this is safe. Sand trucks have increased substantially along all of Nelson Bay Road and Cabbage Tree Road and there doesn't seem to be any cumulative effect measure taken of the impact of even more being allowed. This application should be rejected and go back for review by Police, emergency services and RMS. You are putting our lives at risk.

I drive to Newcastle and the Hunter as part of my job and the amount of sand trucks is noticeable. I disagree with the proposed expansion unless the company foots the bill for a continuous 4 lane highway (2 lanes in each direction) between Paul's Corner and the Lemon Tree passage roundabout. These companies should be paying for our roads.

More trucks on Nelson Bay Rd would be a mistake. More trucks mean more damage to roads, more maintenance and more traffic during peak times.

I live at Bayway Village and sometimes it takes a good 10-15minutes to get out onto the road, also we have elderly people there that HAVE TO CROSS THE ROAD AS PORT STEPHENS BUSES REFUSE TO COME INTO THE VILLAGE ALSO THE ROAD IS NOT BUILT FOR TRUCKS LET ALONE MORE SO MY ANSWER IS NO WAY .

As a frequent user of Nelson Bay Road, I strongly object to any development approval that will lead to an increase in truck movements to and from the site.

The road experiences a high volume of general commuter traffic and consists of long sections of single lane road. Industrial truck type movements are clearly incompatible with the safe and efficient movement of traffic generally.

As a semi rural location, noise and air quality from additional truck movements is also an adverse environmental issue which should lead to the rejection of this DA.

Restrictions were imposed on the original DA for good reason. Existing restrictions on truck movements should stand.

No further destruction to old-growth forests and dune systems. They are important for our biodiversity and health of the environment.
The increase in heavy vehicle traffic would be unacceptable.

As a neighbouring land owner our concerns are as follows.
Our tenant works odd hours and they have made verbal complaints in regard to the noise generated by the empty trucks when they travel over the grid we feel that the extra movements will make this matter much worse.
We also have sand blowing onto the roof of our shed and ending up in our water tank, this only happens when we get a strong southerly wind.
We also have major concerns with the lack of maintenance on the vacant land between us and the mine, the rubbish growing there is a very high fire risk. Our neighbour has made contact with the operators but no action has been taken to remedy the situation.
Another problem we foresee is the possible impact to the quality of the ground water which is extremely important to the surrounding area.
