The modification application for an extra 47 additional residential apartments, increased maximum height and 34 additional car parking spaces is inappropriate taking into consideration the general size and height of residential apartment buildings in the area. One side of the development is on Atchison Lane which is extremely narrow. To have such a large development on this site would put extreme pressure on this narrow laneway with the additional traffic that the extra cars will generate. In fact, even without the additional car parks requested, pressure will be very high on Atchison Lane.
The height of the buildings in the original development is already too high. To increase the height further will make Atchison Lane too dark and all the other apartments facing the laneway will be engulfed in darkness and shadows.

This is yet again another money grab for North Sydney Council and the developers through an elaborate proposal including a $1.9M bribe for additional GFA with no actual consideration to existing residents or the lack of supporting infrastructure in the area. Please demonstrate how this $1.9M contribution will actually be invested in the surrounding area and prove that this is a sufficient contribution to even offset your additional development requirements.

In the last five years in Atchison St and surrounding streets, there has been a very aggressive "demolish and build-up" DA approval rate, with at times multiple large buildings being constructed simultaneously. Its bordering on the ridiculous with DA notifications almost on a weekly basis. I submit that if any person of authority from either the council, the planning department or even the developer lived in the vicinity of this proposal or any similar over the last five years, they would categorically be taking the same position, even with any conflict of interest.

The aggressive development of Atchison St is an alarming example of the strategy of North Sydney Council with blatant disregard for existing residents. As a side note, it appears their strategy is in total contrast to the adjacent Willoughby precinct.
