i object to this project. solar power is unreliable and not a suitable source of energy to power NSW. why are rural communities being destroyed in order to power NSW? rural communities did not ask for this, so we should not have to accommodate such projects. this will also have ugly consequences on the landscape.

Why are renewable energy projects being dumped on rural landscapes? Why are rural communities left to fend for themselves as a result of bad governance and poor decision making? I object to this project because I do not believe that Dinawan should house a solar farm. Not only is this a ghastly and permanent sight on the landscapes, but this would be a disaster when it catches alight due to fire. The toxic implications as a result of this would be of such a significant level and not only the community, but the wildlife will suffer as a result.

I object to this project.
This solar farm project will destroy a small rural community. The toxic run-off from such infrastructure associated with solar factory farms will be detrimental to nearby properties and wildlife.

This solar factory needs to be stopped it’s not in the correct area and wreaking farm land

I believe the project is exceedingly inefficient, wasteful of good agricultural land and unlikely to ever fulfill its business objective without significant government subsidy.
This means that consumers will pay more for electricity generated by this solar "farm", taxpayers like me will have to pay more to fund federal subsidies, or both.

I object strongly to this project on the unassailable solid engineering based ground that solar and wind generation cannot under any circumstances provide steady reliable power to a power grid. The inherent capacity factor averages around 30% and there is no known or potential generation technology anywhere in the world that can provide adequate fill-in generation for solar and wind systems, except coal, gas or nuclear based systems. Accordingly these system should not be built at huge expense to the public purse followed by vast ecological destruction during building and subsequently when these systems fail and hardware has to be disposed of.


Secondly I object strongly to these systems based upon the fact that they rely on mining by child slave labour in under-developed countries.
Australia should NOT support such reprehensible actions.

The EIS states

"There will be minimal waste generated in the operational phase. It is anticipated that the volumes of construction and decommissioning waste may exceed the capacity of the waste management facilities within the Murrumbidgee LGA. Concerns were raised during discussions with Murrumbidgee Council that the expected volumes are likely to exceed the capacity of local waste facilities and may require the waste to be managed through commercial agreements with contractors during construction of the project, a licensed waste management company and relevant local councils."

"Waste batteries Retired batteries used in operations appliances and equipment. Hazardous waste Collection by a contractor and disposed of to a suitably licensed facility."
"Electrical Damaged or faulty components. General Solid Waste (non-putrescible) Separated for reuse or recycling at an approved facility."

The volume of waste is not consistent with "clean energy" generation and is not acceptable and would not be acceptable by the majority of Australians if they knew about such levels of waste.
Further, damaged and faulty Electrical components should not be classified as General Solid Waste as it is E waste.

I object to everything about these so-called “renewable” energy “farms”. There is nothing renewable about them. Their sole purpose is the destruction of our homes and lifestyles in order to benefit a corrupt government.

'Being a primary producer all of my life and appreciating the importance of productive agricultural land I am appalled that governments and foreign-owned companies don't appear to have the same appreciation and concerns. With government approval, foreign-owned companies are prepared to deface vast swathes of Australia's productive agricultural land under the religious fervor of net zero.

Ross Garnuat estimates that 3.75 million Ha of solar panels are required to reach net zero in Australia.

Research done by Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) has found that one-third of prime agricultural land needs to be sacrificed for Australia's net zero mandate.

The Dinawan Energy Hub is a prime example of the race to net zero with thousands of tons of foreign-produced steel, thousands of tons of cement, and two million solar panels that will destroy what once was productive grazing land.

From my research, there appears to be no legal framework to force these foreign-owned companies to properly return these vast swathes of sacrificed land back to their original condition. I keep seeing the word, 'should'..... do this, 'should' .....do that. In other words, nothing is binding. If the foreign-owned companies aren't around it will be left to the impacted landowners to do so.'

I am writing to lodge my objection to the above project, which is exceedingly inefficient, wasteful of good agricultural land and unlikely to ever fulfill its business objective without significant government subsidy.

This means that consumers will pay more for electricity generated by this solar "farm", taxpayers like me will have to pay more to fund federal subsidies, or both.

Like all solar plantations, Dinawan is not fit for purpose as, without back up, it cannot provide power 24/7; and when current roof top solar is producing more than enough on either side of noon in the summer, so much so, and scandalously, that wind plantations have to be paid NOT to produce electricity.
The claims that solar can produce cheaper power than fossil fuels are based on the utterly misleading Levelised Cost Analysis which ignores three enormous costs of back up;
1: The cost of construction of back up (currently fossil fuel/ aka gas and coal)
2: The cost of having the back up plant on standby when it is not needed; who would finance and build a nuclear power plant that did not produce power 24/7?
3: The cost of infrastructure to take the power from where it is being made, in the pristine hill tops of our forested great dividing range, to where it is needed in or near big cities. Fossil fuel plants are built near the source of supply and are part of the existing grid.
No fiscally aware government should permit unreliable renewables that are unfit for purpose as they do not come with adequate back up-power as part of the package.

I object to the dinawan solar facility on the following grounds:
-productive agricultural land should not be consumed for RE projects.
-solar panels can leach chemicals into waterways -BESS pose an unacceptable fire risk -wind turbines have a devastating impact on the landscape - habitat destruction, altering water course and destroying visual amenity.
-wind turbines impact residents’ health and well-being and affect their visual and acoustic amenity.
-lack of social license
-no guarantees VNI west will ever be built - meaning this project should not be able to proceed at this time.
On a broader level, the RE industry is unregulated. Their independent studies are doctored and the government’s regulatory process is compromised by the RUSH for RE in Australia.
I object to the Dinawan Energy Hub.

I object to the project as it degrades the environment and damages the land for sustainable produce. I also object to the expenditure for this project without thorough investigation into financial viability and return on investment.

Objection to proposal:
EIS - incorrect data.
Does not take into complexities and impact to the long term local environment.
There is no detailed plan for recycling or decommissioning .
There needs to be an ongoing contributing fund by the proponent to pay for decommissioning at the end of the project.
The adjoining land holders - should be engaged in a profit sharing arrangement . Those being greatly impacted by the project are not necessarily the host.
All the proposed developments should obey the new renewable guidelines . The Department, should give an iron clad guarantee that the decommissioning will not fall back on the land owner.
I would welcoming a meeting with the department prior to decisions being made.
