Sydney Football Stadium proposed concert cap changes
Venues NSW's proposal to increase the number of concerts allowed at the Sydney Football Stadium (SFS) at Moore Park, is going ahead.
Changes introduced at the venue include:
- increasing the annual concert cap from 6 to 20;
- extending rehearsal finish times and sound checks to 10pm in exceptional circumstances;
- allowing longer concerts from 5 hours to 10 hours twice a year; and
- an exemption to the 11pm concert curfew to allow the SFS to host an Mardi Gras after-party event for up to 40,000 patrons, should the opportunity arise
Amended development consent conditions have been imposed on the existing development approvals for the new stadium to manage and mitigate the impacts of noise, traffic and parking.
No other changes will be made to the normal 11pm concert curfew (with the exception of the Mardi Gras after-party event), sporting events, maximum venue capacity, or transport arrangements.
The decision follows a rigorous assessment by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, which included an exhibition of the modifications late last year. The department considered all public and agency feedback received and reviewed the documentation provided by Venues NSW.
