Planning Proposal - Callala Bay and Kinghorne Point Halloran Trust Lands Rezoning


 This public exhibition relates to a planning proposal (rezoning) to amend the Shoalhaven Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2014 for the land shown on the map below to:

  • rezone 517 hectares of land C2 Environmental Conservation
  • create a 2 hectare bushland reserve (zoned C3 Environmental Management) within the development area at Callala Bay to help protect a population of the endangered Bauer’s Midge Orchid (Genoplesium baueri
  • establish an asset protection zone along the north of the Callala Bay township and the development area under RE1 Public Recreation zoning 
  • rezone 38 hectares of land to R1 General Residential in the development area at Callala Bay.  

The Department of Planning and Environment (the Department) is the local plan making authority for this planning proposal.

The Department invites your feedback on the planning proposal. All submissions will be considered in the final assessment of the planning proposal.

The planning proposal is on public exhibition from 14 April 2022 to 17 June 2022.

Get Involved

Make a submission

Anyone can make a written submission about the planning proposal by filling out the form below.  

All submissions must be received by 5pm on 17 June 2022.

Submissions will be publicly available on our website with personal contact details removed.  Please don’t include any confidential information in the main text of your submission.

Join our online webinar

The Department will be hosting an online webinar. It will include a short presentation explaining the proposal followed by an opportunity to ask questions about the project.

  • When: Thursday, 5 May 2022, 5:30pm –6:30pm.

You will be sent a link to access the virtual meeting room after you register.

Attend the Community Drop-In Session One

Staff from the Department and Shoalhaven City Council will be available to discuss the planning proposal and answer questions at a face-to-face drop-in session.
