Having been born in Gunnedah and grown up in New England region and then
contributed to the development of mining in the gunnedah basin for a
period of 10 years I have personally seen the benefits of mining to
this region and strongly support the Vickery project.

In addition I am aware that while much of the the coal of the proposed
Vickery mine can be sold as metallurgical coal it can also be sold as
very high quality thermal coal which will support the more efficient
power stations in Asia.

Overall I believe this is a very worthwhile project and should be
supported.

We do not need any new coal mines or any more extensions to existing coal
mines because any further burning of coal will increase the rate of
climate change globally. We need renewable energy, which is cheaper to
build than coal-fired power stations. It is immoral for us to be
selling our coal overseas as this also increases climate change. Leave
the coal in the ground. Any jobs that may be created by this project
could be created in the renewable energy industry instead.

I fully support Whitehaven Coal submission for the Vickery expansion
project.
Our rural community cannot rely on farming and Government subsidies to
support us as can be seen by droughts
Vickery will support our local and regional economy by maintaining
employment during droughts and replacing incomes from industries we
have lost.
We need to sustain our local and regional economies with projects like
Vickery.

Hi Vickery project will be good for the wider community.

The jobs and knock on effect to the local economy will be great. I
have a newborn child and I would like to think organizations such as
Vickery will still be operating and be a genuine choice of employment
into the future.

I support the development of the Vickery Project due to the very
significant economic uplift for the Boggabri and Gunnedah townships. I
have lived in the Boggabri district in the past and have strong links
to the area. The Vickery Project will be of great benefit in reducing
unemployment and support much needed improvements to the towns.

Whilst our company is not involved in any major works in the Coal mining
industry, we do acknowledge the flow on effects to both our Electrical
Company and our Tamworth Fencing Business. Whitehaven is the biggest
direct employer and major purchaser of goods and services throughout
the area, which in turn creates more customers for our business--we
have noticed a significant increase in sales from the Gunnedah area
which is obviously attributed to the operations of Whitehaven coal in
the area--The economic impact to all businesses in this area can and
should not be ignored.Environmental issues must be assessed and comply
with all EPA guidlines. The issue with and use of our most valuable
resource water must also play a major role in the operation of all
major businessess including mining.

I am taking the opportunity to support the Whitehaven Vickery Project on
the basis that it represents jobs, growth and a stronger future for
the people of north-west NSW.

I am a longtime employee of the Australian coal industry (+25 years)
and I have personal experience of the positive impact of how coal
mining "done the right way" effects local economies and communities.

I am comfortable that the extension of the existing project has
illustrated there will be no adverse or material impacts on the Namoi
River from mining.

My personal and professional experience with Whitehaven Coal gives me
confidence that the Vickery Extension Project is a project that is
worth supporting.

The expansion of the Vickery Project is an extremely positive one for the
town of Gunnedah and the Liverpool Plains. Over the past five years I
have witnessed First Hand, Whitehaven's commitment to the continued
development and strength of the local communities in which it
operates. Their commitment to the environment, community projects and
local jobs should be a benchmark by which all other coal companies
should follow. Virtually all of the local businesses, housing boom and
rental markets have all got Whitehaven to thank for their long term
commitment to the area. I am unsure of the figures but I know
personally that four of my relatives and another close family have all
moved to the area in the last 5 years and bought homes in the area and
two of them have since had children. All of this can only add to
sustainability of the local communities, schools and businesses.
Placing any restrictions on Whitehaven's proposed expansions would
surely jeopardise this continued growth of the region.

Whitehaven Coal is a wonderful corporate citizen who fully supports the
local community and provides gainful employment (directly or
indirectly) for thousands of Australians.

We have been directly engaged with Whitehaven Coal at Maules Creek for
the last 3 years providing services to support their operations.
During this period of engagement we have found Whitehaven staff to be
of the highest calibre whose ethics and integrity stand out in the
resource sector.

At Prospect Group we are very proud of our association and partnership
with Whitehaven Coal and fully support their Vickery project. We
believe this project will bring tangible economic benefits to the
region and positive social development for the community.
