Penalty Notice issued to Valmec Australia Pty Ltd (SSD-11437498) Broken Hill City LGA

On 14 March 2023, NSW Planning issued a $15,000 Penalty Notice to Valmec Australia Pty Ltd (Valmec) for undertaking activities at the Broken Hill Battery Energy Storage System which resulted in approximately 1300 sq metres being cleared outside the approved project boundary.  Valmec are currently undertaking consultation with relevant stakeholder to rehabilitate and remediate the area.

Message
I object to this proposal because it is located next to a World Heritage Area that is environmentally sensitive.

Threatened species will be affected should this proceed and the cost to the economy and to Tourism to the area far outweigh the financial benefits over 30 years.

State Significant Areas should be properly managed by our government departments and due diligence needs to be demonstrated by our politicians particularly those responsible for environmental legal obligations!
