I love the environment

I support the Tahmoor South Coal Project for reasons that include the
following:
. Approval will ensure ongoing employment for those who work there and
employment for additional workers;
. Our State and the region of Tahmoor, Bargo and Picton relies on
mining along with other industries for the continued growth of its
economy;
. Minorities voicing their opinions as a consequence of social media
promoted opposition, should not be able to influence decisions which
affect a wider community;
. There appears to be minimal environmental risks while providing
economic and social benefits to the area.

I support the Tahmoor South Coal Project for reasons such as the
following:
* It secures ongoing employment for a large workforce by extending the
life of the underground mine.
* This project will create both direct and indirect job opportunities
for people in the immediate and surrounding areas.
* There is a low risk of adverse environmental outcomes and impacts on
the local communities have been considered. The positive economic and
social benefits have been clearly defined.
* The NSW economy relies on the continued growth of this industry. The
local mining activity contributes greatly to the survival of the local
economies of Tahmoor, Bargo and Picton. The project will result in
significant economic benefit to both the local Wollondilly region and
to NSW.
* The Tahmoor South project is scientifically, economically and
socially strong and needs to be supported, not adversely influenced by
a vocal minority with a certain agenda.

Extend the life of mine for Tahmoor Coal until approximately 2035;

 During the construction phase of the project, employment of
approximately 50 to 175 additional people will be required;
 The project will result in a net benefit to NSW of $699.5
million; and
 a net benefit of up to $139.5 million to the local
Wollondilly region

Benefit to local region and employment security

Coal mining and export are important for the NSW economy, maintenance of
our standard of living and the provision of monies to finance
infrastructure and services required by current and future
generations.

Tahmoor is a producer of a high quality coking coal, an essential
component in the manufacture of steel, a material used in most aspects
of our day to day life.. Despite the claims of available alternative
processes, there is no viable substitute.

The Tahmoor South Coal Project is scientifically, socially and
economically robust with the adoption of mitigation measures which
have been proven to be effective there and/or elsewhere, are
appropriate for the quantifiable impacts and realistic qualitative
impacts and meet reasonable community expectations.

If confidence in NSW as an investment location is to be improved, it
is imperative that the assessment and determination of this
application be based on the scientific assessment of local impacts,
not fear promoted by the vocal minority in the locality and the
broader green element through the use of social media, nor the
outcomes of the recent LEC judgement re Rocky Hill and scope 3
greenhouse gas emissions..

I support the project.

community and surrounding areas.

Local work for local people. Supports generation of jobs in the south
west Sydney district, reducing the number of people travelling into
the already congested inbound Sydney roads.

I support the application for the Tahmoor South Project

The continued operation in Tahmoor will secure employment directly and
indirectly, for the local area.
This has many benefits to the local community with regards to local
clubs and business, which I have seen over the years from also being a
local member.
This will also give the opportunity for the younger generation to
secure local full-time jobs in a great industry.

RStar Mining is a family owned mining company that employees over 100
local people at Tahmoor Colliery.

Tahmoor Colliery's future is key to RStar Mining's future as we only
operate at Tahmoor Colliery.

If the extension of Tahmoor Colliery is not approved we will have to
make all employees and staff redundant.

Tahmoor Colliery has long been a very important part of the local
community in both job creation and supporting of local charities and
events.


The due diligence and care taken at Tahmoor Colliery in the extraction
of coal is second to none.

Recently the mine experienced a winder failure that stopped production
of coal for over 35 days. Rather then sending personal home, Tahmoor
Colliery sent the personal into the community to provide skilled
labour free of charge. This labour was greatly appreciated by
(including but not limited to) Charities, Wollondilly Shire Council,
local farmers, local sporting communities and the such.

I can personally attest that the mine has kept both my Father and
myself employed since the mine opened in 1978.

I believe that if the mine extension is not approved and Tahmoor
Colliery eventually shuts, it will have devastating effects on the
local community.
