In principle I support the construction of the hotel, however I strongly oppose the inclusion of gaming facilities in the club. The racecourse is in a residential area, across the road from University and TAFE, and very close to a childcare centre. It would be unconscionable to include gaming facilities here, and to increase the opportunities for this very real and concerning social problem.

I also object to the provision of only 21 car parking spaces, given the hotel will have 190 rooms, a restaurant and the club. Again, this is a residential area and parking spaces for residents, visitors to Centennial Park, TAFE and commuters wanting to catch the light rail, are in high demand. Adding to this demand will create difficulties for residents and traffic, including the Ambulance station. Parking must be accommodated on site.

This project should not be approved.

Entrenching and expanding the existing uses at the racecourse represents an atrocious strategic planning outcome for Greater Sydney. My opinion is that managed decline is the only appropriate plan for the cruel and exploitative horse racing industry. However, I understand that not all agree on that perspective. What is not arguable is that the future of strategically located land must be carefully considered before making decisions with long-term impacts. Now is the time to pause development at this site and consider the future. Further approvals and development should be considered inappropriate in light of the current circumstances. This land should be used to benefit the public.

The Racecourse is an anachronistic facility that benefits relatively few (regardless of purported economic flow on effects et al) and occupies a vast swathe of extremely well-located public land. In the future, it could serve as a new town centre for thousands of people, whilst still providing green areas and open space.

The State Government should not support such inefficient land uses near metropolitan centres. The Racecourse should be considered welcome to continue as is for now, but serious conversations need to be held about its long term future. The Government has signaled its intent in this space with the recent proposal to resume management of part of Moore Park Golf. Moore Park Golf occupies a far smaller area and is utilised more frequently by more people.

I would encourage the Department and State Government more broadly to carefully consider this proposal given the context. It is a woeful situation to be destroying peri-urban agricultural and natural land for new urban development in places like Wilton, forcing future residents into long commutes with no public transport or local infrastructure when there is a significant public land holding five kilometres from the CBD.

The proposal only states benefits and no concern which is very misleading. For example claiming a benefit of planting 17 new trees without mentioning how many heritage listed trees will be chopped. Please explain how the proposed building will fit without touching the existing trees???
You claim to care about local aboriginal communities by adding some art. The reality is, that races (controversial in itself) on private land fenced in without public access offer no benefit whatsoever apart from creating profit.
Traffic modeling is obviously not working as there is already chaos on race days causing long delays on Alison Road. More people will make this worse.
This proposal adds no value to the local community at all which requires living space solutions and not more concrete and blocking off remaining nature (like the Emergency Response Building on Darley Road).
This is another example of overdevelopment for the sake of creating profit claiming to add value where there is none.
Please reconsider!

While I support the development idea, and what it will bring to our suburb, I find the design to be most dispappointing and objectionable.
This intersection is one of the busiest, if not the busiest of Randwick, providing a virtual entry point to the residential and commercial area of the council. The proposed building stands higher than any surrounding (except maybe the Tafe which has issues of its own), and with a featureless flat design that is remanent of modernist offices of the 80's-90's, with no attention given to integration into the area, not even its own main building. Transparent perspectives integration don't cut it, this would be blot in our landscape.
Some effort was given, for instance with the relocation of the Tree, however we can't help but feel like this is but a token commitment that will most likey result in 'accidental' permanent damage to a fully developed tree during relocation, ending with a 'compensation replanting' of juvenile(s) that will take decades to grow to that state. Thus cancelling the only attempt at hiding the building.
I urge the developers to bring down the building by one to two storeys, and would want to see a re-design to bring more volumetric and material thinking (rich brick history), as well as greener inclusions, aligned with other conteporary examples (see attached).

As it stands, I vehemently oppose the current development.
Randwick race course stands for chic and entertainment, and has the opportunity to further define our city's entry, let's make this a sustainable, stunning landmark.

The night time racecourse events have constantly caused high noise levels throughout the years and despite numerous complaints to all agencies involved, nothing has been done. Their application for further activities will cause even more noise.
Also, the area gets flooded by drunks whenever they have races. People climbing the fencing in the middle of the road and jay walking, as well as littering in the side streets. I do not believe they should be allowed to further develop their commercial activities without addressing these issues to my satisfaction.
