I am submitting this to show my strong support for the proposal to restart the Redbank Power Station and convert its operations to sustainable biomass for generating green energy. This presents great opportunity to address multiple issues while embracing a sustainable energy future.

The conversion of the coal power station to biomass would significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Biomass sourced from a standard fuel or waste fuel emits fewer greenhouse gases. This transition is in line with the commitment to combat climate change and reducing emissions.

Reopening the power station will provide a boost to the local economy. The process would create jobs in the region, both during the construction and the ongoing operation and maintenance.

Utilising biomass for energy production will provide security and help supply interruptions during peak periods. Unlike fossil fuels biomass resources are renewable and can be managed for long-term availability.

Thank you for allowing public submissions to support a great way forward.

I support this project because:
By generating power from waste wood that would otherwise be burnt anyway the need to burn fossil fuel for the generation of base load is reduced.
Redbank power station will be storing excess energy as hydrogen which can be used to further reduce the need to generate greenhouse gases.
The ongoing need for fuel for Redbank will create the demand for eucalypts and other carbon sequestion crops in semi arid land that would otherwise be unsuitable for agriculture.
The operation of Redbank will provide ongoing work for up to 1,000 people.

I see great benefit in converting a former coal fired power station like Redbank to using a sustainable fuel to produce near net zero CO2 emissions and green electricity. It makes a lot of sense environmentally, financially and even more importantly as a shot in the arm for Australia in seeing common sense use of existing infrastructure in our movement towards net zero

We all realise the need for
- reducing carbon emissions - by generating power in less carbon generating ways AND ALSO
- energy security - so that the needs of the public and industry & our economy are not compromised
The Verdant project is an excellent one that will contribute to both of the above

Bioenergy is the world's largest source of renewable energy and the only source capable of delivering power with negative emissions.
The restart of the Redbank power station by Verdant is a huge step in the quest for zero emissions.

Creating CO2 by burning carbon is not logical, nor environmentally friendly -We must reduce CO2 not increase it, particularly when we know that in this time of climate crisis that bushfires will increase each summer.

This project is critical to ensure energy supply for NSW. We have been asked to reduce electricity usage during peak periods in summer and unless projects like this are approved our elderly and vulnerable are likely to be impacted. The project will also contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions. Existing skilled jobs can be easily transferable to this facility, keeping employment and dollars in NSW.
