MOD 5 - Water transfer from Angus Place

Dear Madam / Sir,
I was glad to learn of the long overdue protection of the Gardens of Stone area last year through the gazetting of the SCA. I am now concerned to learn of the plans of Centennial Coal to pump toxic mine effluent into Sydney's water catchment and to lower the ground water level in the Gardens of Stone area by up to 30m through pumping. I strongly oppose the proposal on these grounds:
- The lack of time for comment on these damaging proposals
- The modification proposals should be part of the Angus Place West major project, not treated like a separate project
- Nationally endangered wetlands and swamps could be damaged
- Sydney's drinking water supplies might be contaminated – highlight that the water they are proposing to dump can't be treated at the specially built 40ML/day mine water treatment plant
- The modification proposals should be subjected to scrutiny under Federal environmental law
- Centennial's track record means its environmental report on these proposals should not be relied upon
- Another reverse osmosis treatment plant is needed right now to treat this additional mine water.
I am extremely concerned about the negative consequences of this proposal on the local environment and the potential risk to Sydney's water supply.

Please find attached 55 unique submissions all of who made submissions through the Gardens of Stone website. These submitters were encouraged to use the Major Project Planning portal but preferred to use the alternative approach offered by the Gardens of Stone Alliance.
Citizens who had reportable political donations were advised to use the Planning portal.
Submitters were asked if they wanted their name withheld and whether they objected to the proposed modifications.
I trust these submissions are in a suitable form to be accepted as unique submissions. Please carefully note those submissions where a person has selected to keep their name withheld and ensure this translates to the Major Projects Portal when they are made public.
