I am delighted to hear that a new campus will be build in Catherine Fields as parents need to be able to receive quality education closer to home for their kids. Also, the school will have an Early Learning Centre which I support because hardly any school has a preschool program. Furthermore, I am looking for a preschool that aligns with our moral and religious values and at the same time prepares my child for big school and participation in a diverse environment.

Traffic conditions in peak hour are becoming, difficult since Springfield lane now connects to Oran Park. Road during wet weather is unsafe with unpredictable flooding. Where will buses and parents park safely ? Children crossing its going to be unsafe. The current spend limit is 80km .

I strongly Object to the Subi
mission Submission 46366963 being the construction of a new college on Rural agricultural land.
1 the land is not zoned for construction , its Rural.
2 There is no sewerage infrastructure in the area for domestic households let alone a school with 0ne thousand plus students.
3 Flooding and stormwater run off is already a great problem in the area with insufficient drainage without causing more stormwater runoff due to huge hard surfaces around a school let alone huge roof areas stopping water from being absorbed by the soil as proposed by this development.
The Sears report number 13 by Martens overland flow assessment states diverting the water into a 525mm pipe and dumping it on catherine field road drainage which already can not cope ! This will result in even more down stream properties being severely water affected .
4 Noise from huge extra volumes of traffic being cars and buses plus student noise plus school bells sirens etc will greatly impact the now Quiet rural setting and lifestyle .The Sear noise report number 11 carried out by Day Design pty ltd is inaccurate due to being carried out whilst covid lockdown and missing noise loggers.
5 Traffic Transport and Accessibility Sears 9 carried out by Ason Group traffic survey volumes was also carried out during the covid lockdowns affecting traffic flows . Since the report traffic volumes have increased hugely once the road from Catherine park to Springfield road was opened plus extra traffic from Gregory hills already causing issues on Catherine field road as well as a recent Fatality on Springfield road due to increased traffic ,narrow poor condition roads .
A school on Catherine field road with buses and cars trying to turn in and out of a school on a narrow poor condition road on a bend will be very dangerous as well as causing major traffic problems. This issue has not been addressed properly in the sears report in the AIS . AS an example Fourth Avenue Austral where a school has recently been built every school day around drop off and pickup times the traffic on the narrow road is an absolute debacle ! the road is completely blocked by parents cars waiting to turn into and out of the school pickup zone . Frustration and traffic kaos continually occurs on fourth avenue Austral and the same will occur on Catherine field Road if this submission is approved!
6 The Environmental impact to the area being huge construction, noise pollution traffic volumes during construction then the large number of buses and car required to transport students from OUT of area to Catherine field will have a large negative affect on the environment long term .
The Catherine Field area does NOT have many students living locally and the surrounding areas such as Gregory Hills ,Catherine Park plus Oran Park have large new schools recently constructed in the suburban zoned areas close to the students homes allowing close by walk to school ability.
The students planning to attend this proposed school will require long bus and car journeys twice daily creating huge amount of traffic pollution plus very dangerous traffic conditions on catherine field road being a narrow unsuitable road.
7 I strongly disagree and oppose this development on many other grounds being :
Negative social impact.
Near by properties privacy severely impacted by proposed security cameras 24 hours a day surveilling neighbouring properties.
Negative Visual impact being huge construction in a beautiful tree studied setting .
Waste management as this area is affected by frequently occuring severe wind conditions causing pollution from papers and rubbish being blown out of garbage and skip bins .
Lack of engagement with the community by the proposed school operators .
Operational hour Seven days a week early in the morning and evenings including Religious gatherings for worship etc !
Seven days a week with long hours will cause huge social impact to the existing Quiet Rural area .Completely out of character for the area ! Strongly Strongly object to this proposed submission in this rural area!
Onsite parking will be insufficient with such large proposed student numbers causing car etc to be parked on edges of catherine field road blocking resident driveway causing dangerous traffic situations .

We have a greater need in this area to cater for all students including those with disabilities. We need schools that cater for local student only and do not allow students from other areas to enter. Our roads are already suffering with major congestion due to the over development of this area. Flooding and increased natural disasters in our area needs to be taken into consideration and how the impact of another school will only cater for a small minority positively impact our area. We need to stop ticking boxes and start thinking of the greater impact of our environment and living spaces.

I object on the basis on inadequate community engagement. 945 flyers to residents and 8 to surrounding commercial premises. A majority of residents did not receive said flyer. There is no clarity or evidence of the method of distribution or any follow up to those who didn’t attend zoom meeting

I don’t believe the report’s associated with the application are a true and accurate indication of up to date facts. The site has not thoroughly been inspected with different weather conditions to see the full capacity of flooding and overland flow.

We struggle with the current infrastructure to the local community and the lack of completion of GREGORY HILLS PUBLIC SCHOOL which was promised YEARS ago let alone another school, please focus on the one we were promised but have not broken ground of. We also only have one new highschool in the local area to support the growth of the Camden LGA which is not enough, lets also focus on a regular PUBLIC highschools for the local communities that are inclusive to all before worrying about "selective" schools.

I am a local to Catherine Field and have been for the majority of my life. In recent years the infrastructure has not only not improved it has declined at an exponential rate, the degradation of the roads within Catherine Field is reaching dangerous levels and is in no position to even contemplate a school of this size and the traffic it brings with it. Catherine Field road is a single lane road that would not cope with the volume of traffic that comes with a k-12 school, with Catherine Field road being the only available street to turn in to Catherine Field travelling towards Narellan the chaotic road conditions this would create would be unbearable for existing residents. One only need look at the chaos caused a Baramurra primary school accommodating only k-6 and the 40+ minute delays school traffic creates there with very similar conditions but the added benefit of new roads that aren't already crumbling to understand this is a poor planning move. Catherine Field is not in a position to host such a school when still operating on septic systems, no footpaths anywhere in the community, crumbling roads prone to flooding that has only worsened recently and single lane roads. I urge those considering this application to deny the approval and the applicant to look for a more suitable location that won't negatively impact surrounding residents.

I believe a school where more than 80% of the students are from outside of the LGA is not appropriate for this area. This will bring a huge amount of traffic into an area that is already struggling with the current roads and growing population.

We are in need of more public schools in the area - to accept the fast growing population. Another independent school is not going help the school shortage we have in Camden LGA.

The community is growing quickly, with a lot more development yet to come - the roads are going to be increasingly busy - and bringing in another 1000+ people into the area on a daily basis is only going to impact the traffic even further.

We live in a rural suburb and object to a school of such a large number of students being built .This is a very small suburb and is mainly acreage and hobby farms etc, we as people who choose to live here do so for the peace and quite, we don't want the noise, extra traffic or the extra people who would be driving through the suburb to and from the school.
This is no regular school either, it caters to all ages of children and will also be used as a religious centre so will be open weekends and till 10pm at night, residents don't want all that noise at night, we choose to buy here so we didn't have to have that sort of disturbance of a night.
Also the plans for this college will put close residents at a greater risk of flooding during heavy rain and we already have issues with flooding without adding more development to make it worse.
As well as no infrastructure in our suburb to support this development, the roads are poorly maintained as it it, we are constantly dodging potholes and putting up with rain washing away the roads, there are no kerb and gutter or drainage in any of the roads surrounding this college so any extra traffic will just make the roads 10 times worse.
Please reconsider this proposal for our small suburb, a development of this size shouldn't be in a small rural suburb but in a larger community with more access and the correct infrastructure to support it .
