I strongly support this project as I believe it will create employment opportunities for the Muswellbrook shire during the construction phase as well as securing the employment of around another 400 permanent employees. Mangoola has shown in its brief history that it complies with all regulatory restraints applied to the operation both in mining and environmental and can see no reason why this would not continue if approval was granted. Mangoola has also been very pro-active within the local communities with its continued support of junior sporting teams and charities which at times goes unnoticed. Not granting approval for this project, I believe would be detrimential to the upper hunter shire in general as a lot of local businesses are also supported by Mangoola.

As an employee at Mangoola this project is important to myself and my family as without this project it would mean looking for a new job or possibly relocating from the area and i believe it is in the best interest of both employees and the community to grant this application as This project already contributes a lot of money to the local community and government . The land is in a far better off than it was prior to mining with the rehab that is being done , although i do work there i have not had the opportunity to see the rehab until recently and i was really surprised at how well it is growing even though we are in a terrible drought , they have done a terrific job.
I believe this project should go ahead as it not only gives jobs to people from the local communities it puts money back into those communities which without this money would struggle to keep going as they have for the last eight years without help and support of mangoola .

The Mangoola Coal Continued Operations project is a positive addition to the Muswellbrook LGA through the efficient use of existing infrastructure to develop a coal resource which will benefit many stakeholders from local workers at the mine through to the NSW State Government. Mangoola (and Glencore) have demonstrated in their 9 years of operation that they are a socially responsible mining operator through its industry leading rehabilitation, management of dust and noise emissions and thorough community and stakeholder engagement. The extensive efforts to consider multiple development options demonstrate that the project has been well thought out with the optimal solution for all stakeholders achieved.

this project should be considered highly beneficial to our local community as I was born and raised in this local area and have seen many local people having to leave the area to pursue careers due to the decline in the agricultural industry and lack of manufacturing industries. With the forecast closing of a major base load power station also in the future the need for continued employment and new opportunities becomes vital

Mangoola open cut mine has had a large impact on my family's life in the hunter Valley with providing a reliable income. I have worked at most mines in the hunter valley with this site being well above the others in terms of how it has a huge respect for the environment & community. It believes in developing its own employees & putting income back into the direct area. The rehabilitation onsite has also been exceptional.

I strongly object to the Mangoola extension application, for the following reasons:
- If approved, the project will further destroy the property value of my family home, leaving my parents with a stranded asset and very little option to relocate due to the inability to sell the property. They have had the property advertised for sale for many months, with no serious buyers coming forward. The stress and angst that this mine already causes my parents is nearly intolerable for them, and if approved this will only get worse. Glencore has indicated they have no intention of purchasing the property, which leaves my parents with no option but to tolerate what would be significantly worsened noise, dust and negative amenity impacts.
- The noise and dust impacts of this mine must be considered cumulatively. The air quality in the entire region is incredibly poor. We would certainly never consider investing in property in the region, because of the poor air quality. We find it increasingly less enjoyable to visit the region on weekends because of the changing environment caused by large scale open cut mining. The Hunter region was a renowned tourist region - this is now under threat.
- The Muswellbrook local government area, and the Hunter region generally, is at risk of losing any diversity of industry that remains as a result of continued expansion of large scale open cut mining projects. There is total lack of diversified industry in the Muswellbrook LGA.
- Beyond Muswellbrook and the Hunter region, intergenerational equity issues, such as climate change and irreversible global warming, must also be seriously considered in the evaluation of a proposal to continue coal mining on such an immense scale.

I support the project as it will allow my current employment to continue on for many more years, this will allow me to stay in the hunter valley to bring up my family, I am aware that Mangoola coal support local communities financially with there community projects with funds currently above 8M, with this extension it will allow Mangoola to continue to support local communities to help them make our little towns a better place, it will also allow further employment for more than 400 people internally and thousands more externally being from local service providers down to employees spending surplus money’s at local shops,

The land the mine is situated on and is proposing to continue to mine is only good for mining! Its not farming land! Why not let them make money for the community and give local people well paying jobs? I feel the benefits largely out weigh the small impact the mine will have

I have lived in Scone the majority of my life and love the area deeply . There are many coal mines in the area but I think Mangoola Mine stands out as the best . Mangoola have a excellent rehabilitation program that gives the land back its natural look with rolling hills, gulleys, habitat logs ,trees , rocks etc . I went to their open day and was extremely impressed with the amount of plant and animal life that occupy their rehabilitation area , and it looks so natural . In many years to come after the mine is closed you will not be able to tell there was ever a mine there , which is wonderful to see that they give so much dedication to giving the land back to the way it was prior to mining . Mangoola also offer alot of support to the surrounding communities and donate to many charities in the area not to mention all the sporting teams that they also support. The large workforce at the mine coming from the local area support the local businesses and are invaluable to there survival. They have stringent rules that they abide by to make sure that surrounding areas are not effected by the site . Many other mines in the area should really look at Mangoola as an excellent role model and adapt there excellent rehabilitation program not to mention the openess with which they conduct there business , integrity & respect . Mangoola is truly an excellent operation and I give the continuation proposal my 100% support.

Mangoola's expansion can only help the local community. They employ a huge number of locals which in turn provides income for the local community. Mangoola are big supporters of local social and sporting clubs. They have donated very large amounts of money not only to these clubs but also charities and to local infrastructure. The construction of the intersection leading to our town and the town centre improvements are in a large part due to Mangoola's donations. Some of these donations go unrecognised.

The mine's rehabilitation is world class. It is used as an industry standard and a tool for education. Having seen it first hand and to be able to stand there and compare the new rehab with what is about to be mined, I believe the newly rehabilitated areas are far better than what was there before. There is a larger diversity of healthier flora and Mangoola have a weed control program to help establishment of native grasses. This brings in turn has immense benefits for the native wildlife.

Mangoola are serious about their social and environmental responsibilities. They put a great deal of time, effort and money into both and will continue to do so. I would like to see the mine's expansion go ahead for the sake of the local community and environment.

I am a current employee of Mangoola coal operations and have been since the start of operations begun in 2010. By far this mine site is the best site i have worked on from managers to supervisors right down to the people i work with the skill and level of education that we as employees are getting shown about the way to mine and also rehabilitate the current workings to an industry leading standard and is second to none. i hope that we can continue to mine on our new extension.

Allowing this project to continue will give the local community some certainty about its future in regards to providing local people with ongoing jobs and providing local suppliers with ongoing support in the current uncertain times. Mangoola's continued support to local groups is a great comfort to the local communities within the area .

I work at Mangoola Coal and know that the current project is working proactively to continue operations sustainably and within compliance. The continued operations project will provide additional jobs for the community and provide ongoing jobs for the current workforce, additionally there will be benefit within the construction stage. Although this is a thermal resource, I would consider this a low impact continuation having read the EIS, there are low predictions to additional air quality impacts, groundwater impacts, visual and social impacts.

Mangoola Coal have thorough Air Quality and Noise Management plans which aim to meet compliance requirements and minimise the impact on the community while continuing operations. I have a large role in implementing these plans and know the effort that the business goes to ensure we are meeting compliance and mininsing our emissions.

I believe that Mangoola Coal are leading the way in rehabilitation in NSW and this will be continued into the new project area. This industry leading rehab is restoring the land to better stands than it was pre mining. I have seen the rehabilitation at Mangoola and when I look at it compared to other sites in the Muswellbrook LGA it is a stark contrast, this leads me to believe that Mangoola and Glencore a committed to environmental and rehabilitation performance.

I formally submit this submission in support of the Continued Operations Project.

Mangoola Coal Provides jobs for the local area, a large influx of cash flow into the local businesses and parts of the hunter. The negative impacts that mining usually have on the area such as dust and noise are monitored and controlled well below the regulation requirements. The impact of Mangoola coal on the Flora and Fauna is minimal with world class environmental rehabilitation, the land is returned to its natural habitat.

The negative effects of this mine going ahead are considerable deductions in values to our properties which has been reflected by local properties unable to sell due to news of this expansion.
We are getting noises from the mine inside our residences at night while the mine is currently 5kms away from us. They are now proposing to be 2.5kms away from us. A wider buffer zone should be put in place.
The mine will not commit to compensation if their void in the ground takes away our ground water supply.
Rental properties owned by Mangoola have had hunting dogs destroy our livestock on two occasions on our property with Mangoola showing no responsibility for the safety of the local adjoining landowners.
Destruction of what was a thriving community with approximately 2/3rds of the community gone
