I have grave concerns for the air quality and detrimental health outcomes
for the large number of children being educated nearby at Mount
Penang. My children attend/ will attend Parklands Preschool and the
Central Coast Spots College in the area adjacent to the proposed
business. It is an ill conceived area to use to process waste as there
will be much disruption due to wind and rain, making this also a
concern for suburbs further afield such as Point Clate and Tascott
down the hill. There are residents who will be greatly impacted
negatively by this proposal. The surrounding areas are home to many
young and growing families and as such citizens with health
vulnerabilities/ issues including asthma and lung complaints. The
water run off will pollute the creeks, waterfalls and Brisbane Waters.
Being high up in a suburb that often has higher winds, rain and storms
will insure pollution isn't contained on site. This is not an
appropriate site for this proposal. It is a place of natural value and
the precautionary principle especially in relation to the many
educational facilities and communities warrants this site being zoned
for lower risk and environmentally appropriate industry.

I'm strongly opposing the applications being made for concrete crushing
and industrial waste disposal plants in which our local governments
have been bypassed and the local community left in the dark

You should be ashamed of yourselves

Mt Penang is the educational hub for Kariong, home to Parklands
Preschool, NAISDA dance college, Kariong Mountains High School and
International Football School. The surrounding fields and ovals are
used by numerous sporting clubs cricket, soccer and rugby etc.. This
will impact on thousands of children who are supposed to be out
enjoying fresh air whilst they exercise.
This is an outrageous proposal to build this plant 800m from our
beautiful parklands and it must not be allowed to proceed

I have lived in the Kariong area for more than 10 years and in that time
I have seen it become a lot busier with the increase in city commuters
moving to the area. I am aware that development can be a positive,
however I do not agree that expanding a waste plant to include 200,000
tons annually of building materials that include asbestos in a
suburban area is a positive. I work in health and have seen the toll
asbestos and other waste takes on the human body, I have personally
felt the devastation these cancers have my family. It would be highly
irresponsible and offensive to have this expansion in this area and I
certainly would not be casting my vote in favour of the current NSW
Government in the next election.

My son is allergic to dust, We live in Kariong and he attends Parklands
Community Preschool which is located close enough that I believe will
affect the air quality in the local area. It is also an unacceptable
risk to have possible asbestos being crushed and not identified so
close to a residential area. It will cause loss of valve in our
property. We will be forced to move as I can not subject my son to
this. Please don't let this go ahead. There are many organic farms in
the area that will also suffer, they will no longer be able to claim
being organic, this will affect their livelihood.

I object to this submission, the impact will be huge to the community, to
the environment, to our tourist industry and the future growth of our
area. We are the gateway to the Central Coast and are and are trying
to become the capital of the central coast.
My daughter attends preschool at Parklands Preschool so this
submission is extremely concerning and will have huge impacts to my
family.
This proposal directly conflicts with the Central Coast Regional Plan.
The vision stated in the plan is to create a region with a healthy
natural environment, which will not be possible if this submission is
approved. Also the plan covers the Gosford City Centre Revitalisation
Revitalisation of Gosford City Centre as the capital of a healthy,
prosperous and connected Central Coast.
There will also be adverse health effects due to reduced air quality.
Deadly Silva dust travelling through the air affecting schools,
families, businesses and the entire community.
Our roads are already in such a poor condition and this site will
bring many trucks each day travelling on our roads, causing even
further traffic on our already congested roads.
We deserve the right to breathe easy and live in a safe environment,
free from Silica dust. Our largest tourist attraction, the reptile
park will be hugely impacted, people will no longer visit Mt Penang
Gardens. My Penang Gardens area has been used for events, the local
park run and a great family picnic area too. Somersby falls will also
be effected as will the Riding For The Disabled.
I am disgusted at the way in which this submission has bypassed
council and the public.
I absolutely do not want this submission to be approved.

I am proud to live on the "sunny lifestyle" central coast as it has been
advertised. I have travelled extensively around the world and have
chosen to live here due to these optimum living conditions.
In the past I have suffered from the result of environmental toxins
and seen the destruction it has caused.
DO NOT INFLUCT THIS ON THE MANY FAMILIES THAT HAVE CHANGED THEIR LIFE
TO BETTER THEMSELVES BY MOVING HERE . TOXIC WASTE CANNOT BE CONTAINED,
OR THE DAMAGE IT CAUSES REVERSED.

I am very concerned about the environmental and health impacts this
development will create.
Besides numerous trucks emitting dangerous chemicals into the air on a
daily basis, we will also be exposed to silica and asbestos.
How can you consider approving this application knowing the
irreversible damage it will cause to our already delicate environment
and the community's health?
Please do not allow this to be approved.

My grandsons are at school at Kariong, one is at the High School and this
presents a too greater risk to all of the people at Somersby and
Kariong. The damage to their health would be severe. In such a big
country why anyone would consider it applicable to put a waste dump
and cement crushing plant so near to vulnerable children is beyond
understanding. Also the traffic congestion in this area is beyond
being a problem it is extreme, so more trucks would be unworkable.

The thought of placing this site at this location is disgraceful. Homes,
schools, childcare are all in very close proximity. Should not even be
debated given the risks that can be associated with this type of
facility, regardless of how small you think this risk could be.

it'd be about 200m from my home-rural residential.
Potential hazards;
a) air pollutants such as silica, asbestos dust;
b) noise;- machinery 24/7 all year round except Christmas and New Year
days;
c) 200 + trucks / days on Gindurra road-not sustainable;
d) small businesses around the vicinity would be ruined;
e) irreparable, permanent damage to whole Somersby;
f) would contaminate the water, underground/tank for people to use;
g) would definitely depreciate the land value sharply;
h) would harm persons' physical and mental health;

The site is inappropriate for the intended industry. It is surrounded by
homes and near to a pre-school and high school. There would be
concrete dust carried by the wind to these areas. The surrounding road
ways are not adequate to carry the large quantity of heavy trucks that
would be generated by this industry.
A more suitable site should be sought.
