I find it quite confronting that a facility processing contaminated waste so close to residential premises has not been put on display for the residents Gunnedah to voice their opinion .
Has every precaution been taken to protect neighbouring residents from any parasitic material they mat be caused from a plant such as this.
Fully details should be disclosed to all concerned before this project can commence.

I do not believe this waste facility will benefit my community. There are personal houses and land which I feel will be greatly affected by this arrangement. This project needs to be cancelled.

I cannot see how this would have a positive impact on our community. Residential houses and a school agricultural Block will be affected.

Dear Ms Symington,

I wish to comment on the absolute lack of community awareness in the lead up to this proposal, the location of which will have a severe impact on the surrounding residents and industries. The local community have not been consulted or kept informed during this process, due to no opportunity for local council input.
The location of the proposed waste facility is less than 2km from the Gunnedah CBD and adjacent to residential properties who rely on tank water for personall consumption, as well as agricultural use for crops and livestock. The position of the facility nearby to floodplains will have a detrimental effect to the surrounding agricultural land in the instance of runoff and soil damage by toxic waste.

My understanding is that asbestos, lithium batteries and contaminated soil will come from distant cities such as Brisbane, Sydney and Newcastle, whose metropolitan areas do not contain toxic waste facilities within CBD limits. Such a facility should not be placed, firstly, so close to a CBD, and secondly near agricultural and private residential land which is the livelihood of many local residents. I grew up in the Gunnedah area and I believe it's absolutely absurd that such a proposal could get to this point with no local Government and community consultation.
The only justification for sending toxic waste 700km from Brisbane and 400km from Sydney is that the citizens of those capital citizens will never tolerate toxic waste nearby. For the same reason I and many other citizens of Gunnedah object on the following grounds.

1. Lack of any local consultation.
2. Health and Safety of local residents, including private dwellings and a High School campus only metres away.
3. Dust pollution including asbestos and other toxic materials.
4. Noise pollution 11+ hours/day, 6 days/week
5. Potential water pollution, especially during times of flood.
6. Traffic implications of 100s of large trucks moving through small streets every day

Regards,
Zoe McKeon

This project is inappropriate so close to town and neighbouring properties. I was raised in Gunnedah and have family and friends immediately next door to the proposed Gunnedah Waste Facility site. It will devalue surrounding land and is too close to the railway line, the Qia Rd and the Boggabri Rd. I am sure there are more appropriate sites for such a facility which does not have neighbours so close. Gunnedah already has Council waste facilities and if a second site is needed it needs to be located somewhere more suitable.

This will really affect surrounding locals who have been living there for 20+ years this is formal wrong maybe you should speak with them before dumping something there imagine someone doing this to a property close by to your house without any recognition and also our precious river systems will be damaged once the floods come. Like be serious about this have a tiny bit of thought about this process

This proposed project is inapproporiate so close to established neighbouring houses, it is adjacent to 4 roads and a railway line. There are major issues with the potential traffic, noise, dust and contamination. Neighbours who have purchased their homes in a peaceful, quiet area will have their lifestyle completely disrupted if this goes ahead.
I am sure there are more suitable sites away from established homes that could be developed.
Please do not go ahead with this project.

I object to this project due to its close proximity to the local town and especially community areas (High School Agricultural area) and the Namoi River. The increased level of heavy vehicles using our local roads and the long term impact of processing hazardous substances in our local area.

I strongly feel this would negatively impact our community and nearby neighbours , there is no place for such development in Gunnedah especially from a low class so called business/family man . He doesn’t reside here and shouldn’t be allowed to go ahead with this !

Location - close proximity to the school agriultural ground.
Location is close to Gunnedah.

I object strongly to the Gunnedah Waste Disposal project.
This project has thhe potential to affect the local Gunnedah and district community's health and wellbeing.
I do not believe it will offer incentive for people to settle in Gunnedah and it will most certainly have detrimental effect on nearby neighbours, businessesand employees all ready established and does not have the potential to attract other non related industries.
This has had no public consultation and has been poorly advertised and has left multiple unaddressed issues.
Why has the land fill proposal for The Marys Mount Quarry been designated to a Shire DA, If that is to be the end destination for the waste should it not be under the same appliication as the Waste disposal plant as they are dependant on the other's approval? Or is there another landfill area being considered? Have the neighbouring properties to the Quarry been consulted ?
Will there be a quarantee there will be no future modifications to this project which will increase the quantity and possibly the toxicity of the waste being transported treated and disposed of in the near future. If not there needs to be, the Community expects and deserves total transparency in this matter
With regard to Mackellar Industries, MEX or MacKellar Equipment Hire as they now call themselves,Should an industry of this nature be in the hands of a company who have a number of EPA breaches and infringement notices , they have not demonstrated duty of care or due dilligency in the past.Does the Community believe they have the integrity and can be trusted to put the environments and public interest ahead of their financial gain? This is yet to be
demonstrated or dertermined.
The economic benefit of the employment rate of only 62 during construction phase and over 18 to run the facillity which includes some already employed by MacKellar does not outweigh the the potential detrimental effects on Gunnedah's new industrial estate and existing neighbours or the very real possibility that people will not want to relocate to a town with a waste disposal centre that services Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane and dumps its discarded landfill in an agricultural area.
Thank you

This project would be detrimental to the surrounding river system in the event of a flood. As well as being a a nuisance to residents in the general area. Therefore I strongly object to this project going ahead.
