I object to this proposal for the following reasons:
1) Traffic - entering the narrow two lane Bucketts Way
2) Noise - effecting nearby residents
3) Environment damage to local rural landscape

1) I am a constant visitor to my family who are permanent residents living at Ironstone Drive which is very close to the proposed quarry. The Bucketts Way is a very traffic busy and narrow road which is not designed nor adequately maintained for the current use, and any additional traffic entering and leaving the proposed quarry will create a further hazard.
Already there have been accidents and fatalities on this part of the Bucketts Way.
According to the quarry proposal there would be trucks leaving every two minutes. Also the entry to the Pacific Highway is another hazard.
2) The proposed quarry will create noise for nearby residents and the hours of activity do not indicate any control.
3) The local rural landscape of flora and fauna will be effected adversely and I believe there needs to be regulations to protect this rural environment.

Yours sincerely

We are very opposed to the quarry. The whole area is a very unique wildlife corridor that runs from the top of the Ironstone Range all the way through to the Karuah National Park to Medowie State Forest to Tilligerry Wetlands and to the coast. It is by far the largest wildlife corridor in the Newcastle Hunter area and should be left untouched.

There are also many small residences that will be grossly affected by this.

This email is provided to you to state my objection to the proposed quarry SSD11591659 and am claiming submitters rights to update this objection later in January with further documentation.

I do not believe that the EIS is reasonable and truthful. For example the "consultation" I have had is one letter box flyer and a teams meeting that then changed to a zoom meeting that ran late and participants were placed on mute and not allowed to ask questions.

The traffic management part of the EIS is full of holes, where parts of it claims no more than 55 truck movemenst (which is really 110) and a max of 25 per hour. This would likely be morning times when there are high traffic volumes on the bucketts way already. Bucketts way is not designed toc carry this load of trucks and congestion will be immense and driving on bucketts way will become extremely dangerous. For example a car and truck don't fit across one of the bridges.

I stuggle to see how the small financial benefit the community may see will out weight the noise, dust and traffic problems. There are more than 50 families affected by this and most people moved to this area for the peace and tranquility.

The impact on property prices has not been discussed properly in the EIS.

As we only have had 3 weeks to respond to a 2000 page document, I wanted to lodge this objection for the record and then update as was discussed at the DPIE meeting at Limeburnes Creek Hall a couple of weeks ago.

If I could have an acknowledgement that this email and objection has been received that would be greatly appreciated.

I am writing at the last minute before the 5pm deadline ( I am a school teacher and it has been a big year), to object to the proposed quarry at Limeburners Creek on the Bucketts Way. I live on Gunns Gully Road and will be impacted in several ways.

Having read the summary or heard of the main proposal, I am concerned about the following:

- The number of trucks on the Bucketts Way. Even with some road improvements, it still remains a dangerous, busy road used by locals and tourists. In the fifteen years I have lived here I have personally known several people who have been killed on the road. My daughters will be driving in the next few years, and currently catch the school bus, on the Bucketts Way. The proposed number of trucks is just not practical or safe.
- The lure of ‘ten’ jobs does not substantiate such a large proposal. Many of these jobs will not go to local people and will not necessarily assist the local community. The property owners in the area don’t necessarily need this employment. Most families in the area are professionals. The information about employment in the proposal is outdated. Properties in the area are selling in excess of a million dollars, and are not owned, or even rented, by unemployed people who require jobs in quarries.
- The environmental concerns are serious and I do not believe adequate work has been done to address this. The fact that koala populations are declining rapidly, and a quarry is proposed in koala breeding territory seems unbelievable. All of the locals see koalas, gliders etc regularly, not to mention plant species.
- My property is not far from the proposed site. We moved here fifteen years ago, grow our own organic fruit and vegetables and have many animals. To have a quarry operating six days a week in such proximity would ruin our lifestyle.

This is just a quick email and I would like to add more, and believe I am able to do this before the 31st of January.

Thank you,
Sheridan Thomas

RE: “Claiming Submitters Rights” for: Stephen Albury, Amanda Albury, ICAG Inc. Committee,

I am writing on behalf of the 2 names and one Community Group, listed above. We are objectors to the above project.

We also object to the lack of notice given to people that ARE the major STAKEHOLDERS, as we unlike the Council, Government Departments,
are the actual people that will be catastrophically impacted if this is approved in any part thereof.

We above request that any documentation we send in after the close off date, is accepted, until the Department advises us of the final date to get the remaining
Documentation into them. Please add all other documentation to either of the 3 parties submission, to make up their full submission objection, as it comes in.

This process of a flawed submission period is not a fair process. It is not transparent.

Hi James

Can you please confirm that if I make a submission in January 2022!it will have the same weight as if I lodge a submission today? I really want to object to this proposal but have been extremely busy due to work commitments and will be unlikely to make the deadline of today.

ICAG Inc., is “Claiming Submitters Rights” for Bradley Hallett, who will send further documentation to DPIE, as part of his objection to the ‘proposed quarry’ SSD11591659, by 31st January 2022.

To whom it may concern - DPIE/IPC and Midcoast Council,
Subject: Objection to; (DPIE/IPC - SSD11591659 proposed quarry plus related proposed 'Haul Roads' and onto The Bucketts Way, Limeburners Creek) and (Midcoast Council DA2021/2338 proposed Mechanical Workshop), due to material adverse impacts to residents, local business including Wallaburra Wildlife Reserve, both DA's would cause unacceptable levels of noise, dust, fumes, vehicle numbers/congestion on local roads and health impacts.
C/ - Amanda Albury ICAG Inc. Secretary, 151 Forest Glen Road, Limeburners Creek (email [email protected]). I can be contacted through ICAG Inc. Secretary.
The purpose of this email it to lodge an objection to the following proposed developments due to the adverse impact this will have on Wallaburra Wildlife Reserve and property at 151 Forest Glen Road Limeburners Creek, neighbouring properties and surrounding areas.
- Proposed Quarry (SSD11591659) related Haul Roads and (onto The Bucketts Way) - DPIE and/or IPC
- Proposed Mechanical Workshop (DA2021/2338) - Midcoast Council
DPIE/IPC and Midcoast Council must refuse these development applications because of the adverse impact to the property at 151 Forest Glen Road, Limeburners Creek and related Wallaburra Wildlife Reserve, surrounding neighbours & area, which will be adversely impacted by the proposed mine or mechanical workshop from dust, heavy vehicles, operating machinery noise and mechanical workshops or any other businesses producing noise, fumes, vehicle numbers, turning the street industrial.
I have stayed at the abovementioned Limeburners Creek property and found it to be a peaceful, tranquil wildlife area that is materially at risk from these proposed developments.
Also worthy of note are the contradictory operating parameters and scope for the mine and related works, contained in the current development application documents and wonder why the DPIE office appears to be overlooking these obvious deficiencies. Midcoast Council with the proposed mechanical workshop business seeing approval to operate 5 days a week for one customer vehicle per day is highly unlikely.
I would expect that cursory due diligence from the offices of (DPIE/IPC and Midcoast Council), would have identified these deficiencies and would have declined to even consider the mine's application outright. Likewise Midcoast Council's refusal for the inappropriate DA of the proposed mechanical workshop, is not in keeping with the amenity of Forest Glen Road Limeburners Creek.
Approval of these applications will have a catastrophic impact on the environment, surrounding areas, animals and private residences, many of whom depend on the collection of rainwater in tanks that will be poisoned by dust particles originating from this proposed mine and transit of related heavy vehicles & cars etc. emitting diesel & petrol fumes. Likewise the proposed mechanical workshop would also adversely impact surrounding properties with vehicle fumes from cars, trucks, heavy vehicles, driving into Forest Glen Road, a no through road of private residential homes, in a rural subdivision in bushland.

Hi,

Subject: Objection to proposed quarry SSD11591659

I am in Primary School and I am objecting to the proposed quarry SSD11591659. NO QUARRY!

I am 11 years old. My family have recently moved here looking for a nice, quiet lifestyle with some property, but there’s a lot of risks if this quarry goes ahead. I don’t think the quarry is a good idea because:-

1. Kids who catch the bus from home to school will be on the same road (The Bucketts Way), as the big trucks. If the trucks were going around a corner as the bus was and neither could see each other, they would collide into each other. Not only damaging school property but also maybe killing all the kids who catch the bus.

2. There is innocent wildlife out there, who have family’s like we do… they didn’t realise we would come in and wreck their life as humans start getting cars and trucks. I am especially worried about the koalas! As you know they are endangered and there’s only very few in the universe… we are extremely lucky to be able to have koalas around us… can you just imagine life without those adorable, fluffy animals?!?!

3. We will be wrecking birds houses and habitats if we knock down trees and will also be ruining fresh air. There are many birds at the moment but if they have no places for nests or food the population will die down…

4. POLLUTION! We will be polluting animals, the ocean, the air and ourselves. Those trucks have the most awful smell and some kind of diesels and petrol can poison you… Sure, go ahead. Pollute your own family!!! That is absolutely unnecessary! What is the point? Please protect our little, clean town!

5. We do not need children getting killed for no reason! They might be doing exercise riding along the usually quiet road, but suddenly a truck speeds around the corner… you can guess what happens after that……

I really do not see the point in wrecking the area for absolutely no reason!!! I would not feel safe on the bus. The koalas will have to walk across the road to get to nice trees that haven’t been chopped down, the birds will have to find new habitats to live in, there will be lots of pollution and there’s the risk of getting poisoned and children losing their life from a truck… how would the family’s feel?

Please take this letter into consideration and don’t give them approval, because I really, really care!

Hello,

Subject: Objection to proposed quarry SSD11591659

I am opposed to the proposed Deep Creek Quarry. The increased amount of heavy vehicles travelling on the Bucketts Way will make the road incredibly dangerous to me as a school student who travels by bus to School along The Bucketts Way. The Bucketts Way is already in a damaged condition and poses a safety hazard for road users.

I am aware of people who live nearby to the proposed development who are susceptible to dust, diesel fumes allergies and the quarry could significantly impact on their health.

My family have recently moved to this area because we were drawn to the pristine natural environment and wanted to escape the city and pollution. We didn’t move here to a rural zoned area to be impacted on by a quarry.

The proposed quarry is also extremely detrimental to the existing ecosystem and environment, and will destroy endangered animal habitat. The quarry will also impact watercourses that flow directly into the Karuah National Park. This doesn’t seem very smart to me.

Overall, this is an unnecessary development that puts human health, native wildlife and the environment at risk for short term economic gain of a company and I don’t want you to give them approval.
