We believe the health risks outweigh the benefits of this program. I am concern for mine and my families health for now and into the future. The reportable concerns this project can create are horrifying and should not be considered in ANY residential area.

There are now 5 proposed toxic waste incinerators planned for Sydney. Lithgow, Wallacia, 2 at Eastern Creek & Matraville. Western Sydney gets 4 of the 5! I object to the Cleanaway Incinerator at Eastern Creek. Waste incinerators are extremely bad for our health, they can cause respiratory problems, heart attacks, premature death, cancer, birth defects, infant death, & the list goes on. The people of Western Sydney do NOT need to be breathing in toxic fumes for the next few decades. We already get horrible whiffs of the tip in Eastern Creek, we do not need to add to it. Western Sydney is the home of thousands of Australians, families with children who will grow up breathing these toxic fumes. I think it is appalling to even CONSIDER placing one incinerator let alone FIVE in Sydney, with four in Western Sydney alone. Why does Western Sydney take the fall? Are we not people too? Stop the incinerator!

I object to this project! Surely there is somewhere else away from families this can be done. The consequences are detrimental for local communities health wise!
Waste incinerators have been proven to cause respiratory issues, heart attacks, birth defects, cancer. Having a daughter with an airway /respiratory disorder this scares me greatly. I also have a heart condition so again, quite scary.

What is also terrifying is the life span of the incinerators is 30 plus years!!! So more than likely not only affecting me and my children, but their children also!

Please look at other less detrimental options!!

I object this project as I have 4 kids, 2 with asthma problems and you guys cannot give us western Sydney residents any meaning into having this pollute our air, and destroy our living environment. Take this to the Bondi or Vaucluse, bet you guys wouldn’t even think about putting it over there. Disgraceful

In a world where we are fighting climate change and pollution, the idea to burn rubbish, releasing yet more carbon dioxide and other green house gases into the atmosphere is a ridiculous idea. I live and work in this area. I suffer from sinus problems which are regularly triggered due to dust and pollution in the atmosphere and have to have air purifiers running 24/7 in my home in an attempt to help alleviate it. Having a waste incinerator burning rubbish 24/7 spewing more pollutants into the atmosphere is not going to be beneficial for either my or any one else in this area's health. I am strongly opposed to this proposal and suggest that they should be exploring recycling of rubbish rather than burning of it.

A waste processing plant, and particularly a huge, industrial incinerator, has no place anywhere near regions designated for human habitation. This country is huge. There is no need to build a harmful, poisonous, pollution producing waste facility in the proposed area. I object most strongly to the building of this facility.
We have already been informed by the Australian Government that the population in Western Sydney is set to explode over the next decade. To now build an incinerator in the very area that is to be home to these many millions of people is incredibly irresponsible. It is sowing the seeds of massive future problems. Health issues and their associated costs will increase enormously as the effects of the pollutants from the proposed facility are recognized.
I already suffer breathing problems. Smoke from bushfires or even neighbourhood home barbecues affects me very badly. A waste burning facility spewing out toxic fumes into the air around my home must not happen. Any facility, should one be needed at all, should be build in a remote, country location.
I implore all those with the power to stop this project to act swiftly and put an end to this terrible proposal.

I strongly object to this project as it will cause numerous and irreparable damage to the health of nearby communities.
I do not appreciate being sacrificed for the sake of capitalist gains. There have been multiple studies and real world evidence that incinerators cause health problems and exasperate environmental issues.

The Planning Department and State Government are guilty for constantly allowing greedy proponents and companies to apply for incinerators. How often do we have to keep having to fight the same fight? Where is your morals and humanity?. Do not poison us. Department of Planning you are the ones to acknowledge knocking back the previous incinerator application because of health and environmental concerns as well as community disinterest. You can’t truely consider this application now when it’s the same thing. Stop all incinerator applications now.

I am strongly opposed to the development of Cleanaway's proposed Western Sydney Energy & Resource Recovery Centre.
The project is simply a huge incinerator in which vast quantities of rubbish would be burned.
Many people live and work in the area of Sydney in which the project is proposed. The incinerator would release toxins into the atmosphere and would eventually increase the pollution level of the entire Sydney basin.
The company proposing this project (and the similar projects that have been previously rejected) are doing so only to make a profit from rubbish disposal, without any care for the health of the citizens of Sydney, or the environment.
The only reason you are not inundated with objections to this proposal is because the vast majority of people are not aware of it. The mere fact that the project name studiously avoids using the only really appropriate word INCINERATOR, is proof of the underhanded manner by which this company intends to sneak the proposal through with little resistance.
I urge the members of Parliament with the power to decide on this issue to make the right decision, and protect the people of Sydney from this insidious proposal.

I am against the development and implementation of a waste-to-energy incinerator being developed in Eastern Creek.

First and foremostly, I would like to stress that there has been ZERO communication with the residents of the Blacktown council about this project. I have friends and family all across the municipal, none of which have been informed of such a project going on.

The burning our Sydney's rubbish is not the solution for garbage management or energy production.

The release of toxic micropollutants will not only contaminate the air across Sydney's regions, but will have an impact on land and water. The direct brunt of this will be felt by the people of Western Sydney in the surrounding regions, none of which have signed up to live in such conditions.

As a mode of energy production, this has to be one of the least innovative ideas. While around the world incinerators are closing down, it is embarrassing to state that one would open up here in Australia in the 21st century.

While your outlines talk of regulations to contain and minimise damages, the reality of the situation will be detrimental health and environmental damages which should be avoided.

While I am sure it was not your intentions, the decision that Western Sydney would be happy to be the site to burn Sydney's garbage comes off as a little unjust. As Western Sydney is the home to the largest population of migrant/non-English speaking, and low-socioeconomic peoples, choosing this place as the suitable grounds for an incinerator does come off a little wrong. The NSW government of the democratic liberal state of Australia should be a bit more sensitive to notions of environmental justice. Why is no incinerator proposed in the more affluent regions of Sydney? I am sure the reasoning is purely geographical.

The impacts on the environment and people will be damaging not only in the immediate sense, but for the generations to come. In today's age where climate breakdown is undergoing, I think the last action we should be taking is in the step of increasing damages on the environment.

This side of Western Sydney is home to some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. I would rather not have such natural beauty tarnished, so future generations can value the scenery and live in good health.

I strongly oppose this proposal. Not only does it pose serious health risks for the residents of Western Sydney, but will also impact greatly on air and water quality.
There is no proof that the emissions will be sufficiently contained. Should this proposal be approved, this would have a huge detrimental impact on all Western Sydney residents.
I urge you to please act in the public's best interest and reject this proposal.

20201114 Incinerator

I strongly object to Cleanaway's Western Sydney Energy & Resource Recovery Centre.

It is hard to believe that this project is even being considered!

Incinerators are a backward step for disposing of waste and producing energy, particularly when there are much better alternatives.

Sydney banned incinerators many years ago due to air pollution and the effects on human health. Although technology has advanced this problem remains as does the toxic ash waste which must be disposed of.

The promised energy from this development will come at a huge cost to people and the environment at a time when so many cleaner and cheaper energy sources are available.

The burning of waste discourages reuse, recycling and composting. It encourages a wasteful society.

The NSW government should instead aim for zero waste by
1. introducing a tax on plastic, similar to alcohol and tobacco, with exemptions for essential medical items
2. educating industry/business/general public on how to reduce plastic consumption and how to reuse, recycle and compost
3. regulating industries’ material selection, manufacturing processes and product and packaging design

I have recently bought a property in Mt Druitt, only 3 kms from the proposed incinerator site. If i knew you were still allowing applications to build toxic incinerators i would never have bought a house here. We say no! The community doesn't want any incinerators anywhere. YOU said no to the previous applicant because of health concerns. SAY NO AGAIN and stop allowing others from applying.

The Cleanaway Group has not made any effort to discuss the project with residents in my neighborhood (Rooty Hill), which is near enough to the proposed site to be exposed to objectionable rubbish smells when the wind blows in the right direction. Since I haven't been provided with any information to the contrary, I have to assume that fumes and particulates from the incinerator (let's call it what it is) will also reach my home. We no longer have a local newspaper to keep residents informed on projects such as this, and we only found out about it when council and our local member sent out letters a week before submissions were due. The Cleanaway Group appears to be using the chaos of the COVID-19 situation to sneak their proposal past us, knowing that it's rare to attend public / council places where information about these projects is openly displayed. It's not possible to support a project like this without adequate notice and provision of data to reassure residents that their suburb is not about to become heavily contaminated with a range of persistent pollutants.

The fumes that the incinerator will emit will be going to be very bad for people with health problem like asthmatics, pulmonary weakness and deceases, older people and also for the community in general . The fumes and the smell will be unbearable and very unhealthy, we are already experiencing the effects of the Eastern Creek Tip and by saying we, I also mean my family and friend who came to visit and has to travel through Wallgrove Road or Ferrers Rd. The community don't need another unhealthy project.
This is my main object against the incinerator in Eastern Creek. Health before anything else

Our land is vast and hugely underdeveloped. Surely a toxic waste incinerator can be built somewhere out there. The idea to have something built in an area where it's densely populated is just beyond comprehensive. The effects of this thing will affect many generations to come if it's allowed to be built in the suburbs where there are a lot of young families.
