This project as far as I know, will emit fumes right across Western Sydney, which will then affect the healthy condition of environment as well as the health of residence. I believe, it will also cause pollutant in the air.

I object to this proposal! It was tried by Ian Malouf of the Dada Group and failed to
Meet all health and safety specifications by The EPA and Western Health and the Residents! Three times it failed and was defeated in the courts!
Children and Residents of the Suburbs near by , only 800 metres will be affected by toxic waste fall out and noise of trucks and machinery 24 hours a day 7 days a week non stop. With the Sydney Basin trapping it’s day to day pollution of Cars, Industry and Planes this is a Recipe for a health disaster! Not to mention the Bush Fires and Back Burning and Global Warming. Heart Attacks and Asthma are rife in the western suburbs and on the increase. There was a move to have Incinerators outside of a16 kilometre zone of the Sydney Basin whilst this is not ideal may be better than in the Back Yard of Residences and Playing Fields and Schools and Kindergartens!
I implore you not to let it go ahead for the future well being of our children and planet!

How can this project possibly go ahead when the Independent Planning Commission already dismissed the other incinerator project based on health, climate, sustainability and environmental protection and the act have banned waste incineration and the NSW Labor and Greens will also table a bill to ban incineration in NSW. Just looking at the evidence from the London incinerator should be enough to ban such an incinerator. And furthermore, the pollution levels in the western suburbs are already high which impacts the health of the residents. Please please think of the residents of this area and rethink this project. Thank you

To whom it may concern,
I strongly object to Cleanaway's proposal to build a waste-to-energy facility in Eastern Creek. Both the nature of this establishment (turning waste into energy by burning it) as well as its close proximity to densely populated communities is a recipe for disastrous consequences that will impact upon the quality of live for residents across the Western Sydney region. Please read my attached submission and reject Cleanaway's proposal in order to preserve the well-being of residents and their environment.
Yours sincerely,
A very concerned member of the public.

I am a local resident and have been so for around 30 years. 10 years ago I had an operation on my left lung (pleuradesis) and this has left me sensitive and susceptible to airborn contaminents etc. As far as I have been able to find, the environmental effects of such a facility are at best not fully understood and at worst they can be detrimental to the health and lifestyle of anyone with compromised lung function. One of my biggest concerns is that once the project is constructed there is no going back if there were to be any long term effects found. There is no provision to shut it down if problems are found or the company responsible does not live up to its expectations. In my opinion this type of project should not be constructed close to ANY residential area.

I disagree with the incinerator at Easter Creek Western Sydney.
No matter what the government said about the low impact the incinerator will have, this will be high impact to our community, this will be private run business which will profit from tax payers running 24/7, producing toxic flying ashes carried by the wind from long distance which people will be breathing and are a potentially risking to the heath of people in the area.
The small particles will enter our lungs increasing the respiratory symptoms affecting people with asthma. As per the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the Asthma Web Report indicates one of the causes is “Air Pollution”.
The incinerator should not be allocated near schools, childcare, parks and households. The incinerator should be allocated in a remote area away from civilisation. New South Wales is a big state.
I can’t believe this project was accepted again, people don’t have the time to submit their response and lots of people think this was already deal with.
Please stop this project.

In and of itself Waste from Energy is a great solution, I am opposed to it being so close to my home address.... why not out further past the new aiprort?

This facility will be built way to close to my home. This is the reason I am objecting to the new facility being built and the power of the local council has been taken away.

I, a resident of the local area of Minchinbury, formally oppose, as has previously The Environmental Protection Authority, The NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE), NSW Health, the NSW Labor Government and Blacktown City Council, the building of a waste-to-energy incinerator in Eastern Creek or Blacktown or frankly anywhere in suburbia, let alone 1.44 linear kms from my workplace (a school), closer from my house (2.2kms). I have serious concerns for the health and well being of me, my family, friends, colleagues and residents of surrounding residential areas.

Not too long ago a similar proposal was rejected by the Independent Planning Commission citing “uncertainty” over the project’s human health risks, and impact on air and water quality. No added ‘safeguard’ can promise residents, students and employees that their health is or will be safe.

The site is completely wrong, situated in close proximity to many homes, schools and community sports pitches. Within a 10km radius of the Eastern Creek/Blacktown site there are numerous preschools, primary schools, high schools, aged care facilities, residential houses that will be affected by a 24/7 operation of the incinerator. Call it what you wish, Cleanaway's Western Sydney Energy & Resource Recovery Centre, bottom line, is an incinerator with the future capacity to burn through over 1 million tonnes of waste, including the possibility of asbestos, through unsafe work practices. Babies, students, residents, the elderly will be breathing in toxic fumes emitted from this Cleanaway facility let alone animals from the nearby Sydney Zoo. Toxic particles will make its way into the zoos precinct and also into the main drinking waterways for Sydney, Prospect Reservoir.

We learnt that similar projects in Europe and the UK have failed to safeguard humans from toxic pollution no matter what procedures they put in place. There has been evidence of birth defects in countries who have these incinerators operating. Once incinerators were shut down there was a fall in infant death rates in the area. We, I don't want to take that chance with my health or my sons or grandchildren's health.

The level of community concern from these unsightly hazardous waste incinerators (equivalent to 35 storey building) is still extremely high about these incinerator proposals as Western Sydney residents do not want to be exposed to potentially deadly pollution from this plant. There are many obvious ways in which a massive incinerator with a stack belching plumes of pollutants and emissions into the atmosphere of homes to thousands of people will cause severe worry and stress to those of us who live here. Their mental health is at risk if this plant goes ahead.

If Cleanaway is allowed to self regulate how do we know they will be law-abiding. Previous experience with a similar company showed that management cannot be trusted to work within the law when handling waste. We have learned that demolition and construction waste including asbestos was handled unlawfully on the site. How do we know if similar materials are burnt and the toxic particles are released into our environment. Toxic plumes will travel within the sydney basin hurting our community. Don't allow this to happen.

I am concerned that if this high-temperature combustion technology shuts down Minchinbury and its surrounding area already suffer from horrid stenches from industry. We don't need to suffer even more during plant failures. There is no guarantee that if the emission cleaning systems fail harmful emissions will not be omitted.

Society should be looking into other avenues to reduce waste rather than burning it by incorporating improved recycling processes, banning single use plastics and ensuring manufacturers use biodegradable plastics during manufacturing. This would severely reduce the rubbish needing to be treated.

Think of the mental and physical health of residents before approving this proposal by NOT APPROVING IT.

Cleanaway claim they have engaged with the community but this is not true. All you have to do is look at the Facebook pages in Minchinbury, St Clair, Mt Druitt and so on and you will see noone supports incinerators. The Department of Planning stated that for the previous incinerator applicant one of the reasons it was refused was“the project is not in the public interest”[6]. This has not changed. We don't want it here and Cleanaway would be lying if they said we did. Another reason Department of Planning knocked back The Next Generations application was the concern for health and the environment. The technology has not changed so why would The Planning Department even consider any applications for incinerators at all
