I would like to object to the proposed Wind Farm at Bodangora on the grounds that there has been very poor community consolation and they offer no true solution to our energy needs. I attended a meeting at Wellington on Sunday the 22nd of July. At that meeting there were still people in the proposed Area of the wind farm that were unaware of the exact location of each turbine and still have not received any information on the size make and model of the turbines,
I fail to see how this can be the case if the proponent has had four years to put forward their submission I also find issue that the local community has sixty days to put in an objection and then the proponent then has unlimited time to reply. This is an uneven playing field with Overseas and Australian companies with a majority of overseas shareholders walking away with millions of tax payer dollars and with a stench of corruption in the air.
I feel that Wind turbines are a blight on our country they do not offer any true answer to our problem with carbon emissions because they never off set their own foot print and they fail to live up to the wind energy propaganda and at best supply 25 precent of their forecast energy output. If the Wind energy companies operated in an open and truthful manner with all their cards on the table they would have more support, but they continue to operate with a Tele marketer attitude and if you are to ask a question that is not on their script they cannot answer, they then resort to school yard bully tactics. If wind turbines were all that they were cracked up to be there would be no need for this. What are they trying to hide? The people who will live to regret the Wind turbines the most will be the host farmers in the short term they will make some money and in return they will living a night mare of community division. Friends that they could always rely on in the times of floods fire and drought will no longer be there to offer a support base having been forced to move from the area due to illness brought on by the Turbines , And they might get $10,000 a year for each turbine but the life of a turbine is only 20/25 years they will be left with a rusting hulk that they will have to pull down because the Wind energy companies will be long gone with their pockets filled with gold the best conservative price that I have been able to come up with is at today's prices is $250.000 so they will have to find the short fall themselves so unless there is a bond placed on the Turbines for their final removal we will be left as has California has with over 14000 rusting disused and oil leaking Turbines
