Development and Assessment
Find information on development applications through to complying development certificates and integrated developments to help you apply online using the NSW Planning Portal.
Complying development is a fast-track approval process for straightforward residential, commercial and industrial development.
You do not need planning or construction approval for many minor renovations and low-impact works (exempt development).
If you’re seeking council approval on a new build or renovation, you can submit Development Applications (DA) online – anywhere, anytime, with our Online DA Service.
Council will refer the application to the necessary agency so that there is an integrated assessment of the proposal.
Not all development requires consent before work can start. This includes some low-impact or routine activities such as home businesses or markets in a public recreation zone.
Some areas have unique qualities that need special planning and development assessment provisions.
Commonwealth telecommunications rules may apply when lodging a development application.
