As a resident of a Maple Tree Rd Unit Westmead , although not objecting to the creation of pedestrian access from school to Farmhouse Rd I have concerns that this will lead to increased parents- car drop-off and pick-up of children in our access to our residential car park. Currently I have experienced delays being able to enter with my car or exit during pre & post school times, which already causes inconvenience. How does the school propose to manage this current and future problem. Will they provide a school turning circle on their grounds? Also have noticed increased rubbish being dropped by students as evidenced by school related notes and paraphernalia. Can the school provide bins at the school exit to mitigate this problem.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for the opportunity to provide comment on the advertised development.
As a resident on Maple Tree Rd which is presently being used as student and staff access from Farmhouse Rd to the eastern entry and exit side gate of the school.
I wish to lodge three requests associated with the fourth amendment of the development application. Due to the present and future high pedestrian access route to the school site these are matters that have impacted on the immediate neighbourhood.
If the side gate access to Maple Tree Rd continuing onto Farmhouse Rd is still in the plan
1. That there be a permanent rubbish bin located at the school gate side for students to deposit their litter as they leave and arrive, this can emptied by school grounds staff. I personally do a weekly rubbish pick up in this vicinity and frequently find rubbish dropped on the pathway, gardens and drain grates. I have also found school information sheets and notes to parents relating to individual students.
2. Our one way resident access road (Maple Tree Rd) has become a defacto student drop off and pick up on the road and many a time directly on the pedestrian crossing, without any proper kerbside parking.
This I believe is illegal and an unsafe driver practice.
I note that Transport NSW has stated that
• Information has not been provided on how/if school access points and school zones will be impacted as part of the new proposal and how drop off/students will be managed moving forward.
In the afternoons the parents who have arranged to pick up their child at this pedestrian crossing will arrive half an hour earlier and stop their cars on the circular road outside the Highline Apartments until a resident comes home and needs to drive into the underground carpark, whereby the ‘conga line’ of waiting cars have to be asked to move. Where sometimes tempers become flared. This is also a problem when residents need to drive out of the apartments where they are then forced into this queue of waiting cars. Police presence to target this illegal practice might assist with resolving this school related problem.
Has the development application provided safe and ample drop off zones such as ‘kiss and drive’ for the projected numbers of students that need to be driven to the Catholic Community Campus? The name in itself acknowledges that it is and will be accommodating a large population of students requiring to be driven from other suburbs.

3. There is also a safety concern relating to groups of students walking diagonally across the road (Maple Tree Rd) into the garden island from the heritage WSU building rather then following the designated path and pedestrian crossing. To reduce this practice can only be explained at student assemblies and reinforced by executive teaching staff observing student arrival and departure at random times of each school term.
Thank you

Related to Creation of a pedestrian access from farmhouse road -
Our main concern regarding the amendment is the added congestion to our main road (maple tree road) and the 2 connecting roads (farmhouse/darcy road) that this project may create. Currently pre-covid, it has already been extremely difficult for residents to drive in and out within the vicinity during school pickup and drop off hours.
