This Project is refreshing and will assist people and organisations
within the Region to work and live local. Currently these work
opportunities are rare and I am required to travel long distances to
secure employment for myself and my staff. This Project will give
employment hope and family harmony within the Region. I wish the
Project all the best.

This submission is in support of the proposal being approved based on the
following points I have obtained from the EIS;
1. The increased jobs and opportunities for training with a quality
organisation is a major benefit to this rural area
2. The construction phase workforce required alone would be a great
benefit to the businesses in the area.
3. The proponent of this project " Whitehaven" have a proven track
record in this area of completing large projects like this on time and
within budget, and trying to use local contractors where possible.
This has been very beneficial to the area.
4. In this area Whitehaven have made significant progress through
active means to increase opportunities for indigenous people. This has
bought great value to this are, and this project if approved will
enable more opportunities for Whitehaven to assist in this employment
area.
5. The reduction in road movements and change to rail is of great
benefit

Strongly in favour of the Vickery Extension Project. Hundreds of families
can be supported by this development and ongoing operation. I believe
environmental and community impacts can be managed appropriately and
the region can continue to grow and prosper. A diversity of industries
strengthens the region for future market, weather and policy
challenges that may arise.

PBE Rutherford supports the Vickery Extension Project. The project is
important for the NSW coal industry and the many service companies and
communities that rely on the industry. Our company is one that does
and we employ over 200 people directly in the region.

You say local jobs but how many will be full time and how many will be
with a contractor like your other mines . I would liked to have stayed
with a mine who gave me a start but wasn't prepared to work for years
as a contractor on less hourly rate than your permenants with no
annual sick leave or bonus for doing the same job and same hours and
shifts as your permenant staff. The high turnover of labour hire staff
at Tarrawanga should of been enough to say we are doing something
wrong here. I have an excellent full time position with leave and
benifits with a rival mine but had to leave to get it as it was a
waste of my time to stay with Whitehaven as a contract operator with
no clear pathways for my future. I only hope you do employ locals and
give them fair opportunities for proper full time employment and not
contract exploitation like your other sites

I HAVE FOLLOWED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSED VICKERY OPEN CUT MINE
WITH SOME INTEREST. IN MY OPINION WHITEHAVEN COAL HAS OBSERVED ALL THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW AS IT APPLIES TO SUCH AN UNDERTAKING AND
SHOULD BE GBIVEN CONSENT TO PROCEED.
THE TOWN OF GUNNEDAH WILL QUITE CLEARLY BENEFIT IN A SOCIAL AND ECONOM
IC SENSE AS JOBS ARE CREATED AND THE COMMUNITY EXPANDS..THE PROPOSAL
WILL CIVE A SIGNIFICANT BOOST TO THE COMMERCIAL ADFEAS OF NOT ONLY
GUNNEDAH BUT TO NARRABRI,BOGGABRI,TAMWORTH,QURINDI WERRIS CREEK ANS
THOSE RURAL WORKERS DISPLACED BY WHAT IS AFTER ALL ONE OF THE WORST
NATURAL DISASTERS OF THE LAST FIFTY YEARS.I REFER OF COURSE TO THE
CURRENT DROUGHT..
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WISH WHITEHAVEN GREAT SUCCESS
IN THIS PROJECT.

In my view this is a development with economic and community benefits
that more than offset the environmental impact, which is contained to
a relatively small area.
It also sends an important signal on the attractiveness of investing
in major projects in NSW, not just for the resources sector but for
business in general.

I strongly support the extension of the approved Vickery Coal Mine,
including a coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP), train load-out
facility and rail spur line.

The extension of Whitehaven Vickery means more jobs and growth for the
Gunnedah region and those doing business in North West NSW.

I personally rely on the coal industry in the Gunnedah region to
provide stable income for my family and support our lifestyle.

The Vickery Extension Project will provide the North West NSW Region with
increased employment opportunities, and the state of NSW with
increased revenues. The project will help to advance the region, the
state and the country while also providing Asia with much needed raw
materials to assist that region with its economic growth.
