I fully support the development of the Vickery Coal Mine as it will
provide more jobs and desperately needed income to the NSW economy.
I believe Whitehaven Coal have proven to be a responsible mining
company, not only to the local community, but also in carrying out
their environment responsibilities with respect to their current
mining activities.

Being a valued client to Whitehaven coal in the Gunnedah region it is in
our best interest to see them grow and develop future mining
opportunities in the area, in which will also promote job
opportunities for local workers and develop new workers into the work
force for rural NSW.

Kind Regards

As base load power is reliant on coal and that the HELE plants are an
essential step in the right direction, the quality of coal from the
Gunnedah basement is required. With the appropriate controls in place,
this is positive for the area, NSW, Australia and the contribution
towards emission reductions. We must approve such quality project

I support HELE COAL as a form of reducing world wide omission. I believe
the general public do not understand the difference between Antracite
Coal Black Coal and the lower quality Brown Coal

As a self funded retire I have shares in two Australian coal company
to support myself , provide work in The Hunter Tegion where I live and
also provide Foreign income for Australia which enables all of us to
pay for imporys necessary for our life style. I t also provkides much
needed well paid jobs in Country Areas.
I have given no donations to anyone on my sole self funded retiree and
84 yo widower. I add NO ONE GIVES ME ANYTHING EITHER.I have worked and
still pay tax since 1950.It is not The Big End of Town or a foreign
company.

I am employed as a Marketing Manager at Whitehaven Coal Limited. In this
role I am regularly in contact with coal customers, primarily in Asia.
There are some clear trends that have developed in Asia over the past
2-3 years, they are:
1. An increasing requirement for coal generally as the penetration of
LNG and renewables, coupled with the decline in nuclear generation
post the Fukuoka disaster.
2. In line with the increasing coal requirement and tightening
environmental regulation being imposed by government (e.g. Taiwan,
Korea) there is an increasing requirement for higher quality coal.
For background, the Japanese have been using high quality coal from
the Hunter Valley for decades. However, as is the case in many coal
basins around the world the coal quality is declining. The development
of the Gunnedah Basin as a significant coal producer has replaced a
large quantity Hunter Valley coal in the Japanese market.
The more developed Asian countries such as Korea and Taiwan have begun
to transition to higher quality coals, whether it be for lower
sulphur, ash or higher calorific value amongst others. There is also
pressure to cut coal consumption and reduce emissions which means that
if power output is to be maintained higher energy coal becomes more
important. Many countries are installing high efficiency
ultrasupercritical coal-fired plants and for optimal efficiency, the
best quality coal is required.
The result of this emerging requirement for higher quality coal has
also resulted in a significant rise in price for premium coals and
left customers wondering where additional volume is coming from.
Similar to Whitehaven's other mines in the Gunnedah Basin, Vickery
will produce a low ash, low sulphur and high CV product which will be
required to fuel Asia in a transition to a more efficient, less
polluting coal-fired power station fleet.
In addition to my commercial role I am also a Chemical Engineer and
regularly see the technical staff at our customer's power plants.
Feedback from technical staff is that Gunnedah Basin coal is highly
regarded for its excellent properties. I have worked for other coal
producers where feedback has not been as favourable.
I see coal as an important transitionary fuel for high efficiency low
emission base-load power in Asia over the next 20-30 years in which
the Vickery mine is a key part of the supply mix.

I fully support the Vickery Coal Mine project.

Coal should be mined in Australia where far more stringent
environmental and safety standards are in place compared to competing
coal producing countries Indonesia, China and others. Whitehaven in
particular has an outstanding track record in this regard.

Any minor negative impacts on the community & environment 1) have been
greatly mitigated by the company and 2) are vastly outweighed by all
the benefits, such as:
- High paying jobs in regional areas
- Taxes & royalties that fund social services
- Flow on benefits to regional businesses
- Providing high quality less polluting coal than the alternative coal
which would be mined in Indonesia or China
- Providing affordable power that lifts people out of desperate
poverty in developing countries

I periodically visit the region and believe it has overwhelming
community support despite a noisy motivated minority attempting to
create a different impression.

High quality well mined coal in modern plants decrease emissions. It's
time to blend coal and renewable as evident by the South Australian
power fiasco. This mine helps the future compared to alternatives. We
might be able to improve more in the future but a 40% drop in
emissions with modern coal plants should be embraced. Power prices
affect poor people the most as a fixed cost of there income.
Whitehaven have a great track record so should be accepted at there
word when discussing how they manage things.

The region, state and country have been blessed by having the opportunity
to develop this coal resource.
The benefits outlined are compelling
So long as all the laws, regulations, requirements and any other
commitments are being met, then the project should be supported and
given approval to proceed.

Opportunities to generate projects like this are "few and far between"
- don't let the opportunity be wasted!

Whitehaven Coal Pty Ltd is a client of my small accommodation business.
The spending by Whitehaven in my business allows me to have a buy
local policy which in turn supports other local businesses who may not
be direct suppliers.
As a Gunnedah resident for over 20 years I have seen the highs and
lows of the regional economy when mining is thriving and when it is in
a low such as the mid 90's.
The population in Gunnedah has grown with the influx of mine workers
which also supports the local economy.

I would like to lodge a submission in support of Whitehaven's Vickery
Extension Project. Whitehaven is an important client of ours and
supplies our local employees with valuable employment opportunities in
the local region of Gunnedah and Boggabri. This extension if approved
will increase the demand for our services in the local area and will
possibly require us to hire several more staff to accommodate this
need.

The team at Triple A wholeheartedly support the Whitehaven Coal
application for its Vickery Extension Project. The project will not
only provide economic benefits to NSW and the wider Region, but will
support small business and the surrounding towns as well as increasing
employment opportunities in those local communities. We have witnessed
first hand the depth of Whitehaven's support for both the environment
and the communities in which it operates. The project should
definitely be approved without unnecessary delay.

We would like to support the Vickery Coal mine extension project. As a
small business operating in the Gunnedah area we need projects such as
this to keep the economy moving and support jobs. We employ staff who
reside in the Gunnedah area and this project can secure employment for
our workers into the future. Whitehaven Coal has shown that they are a
responsible corporation and currently provide strong support of the
local community. Please approve this project.
