I object to the minimal regard that has been given in this project for expanding cycling infrastructure. Instead of safely connecting Sydney domestic airport to a dedicated bicycle access route - an existing issue noted in the report - this project merely moves the existing bicycle route to the other side of the canal and fails to connect international and domestic airport terminals. This project creates ideal conditions to implement a connected, thorough and safe bicycle network around Sydney aiport, but completely fails to take advantage. In fact, the opportunity is squandered and any post-project retro-fitting of cycle lanes will doubtless be rejected on the grounds of cost as a stand-alone project. Connecting all parts of Sydney airport to cycle infrastructure would represent a benefit to employees working there and travellers using the airport and serve as a showcase (to Australia and the world) of integrated transport options for the 21st century.
