I am a member of Glebe Rowing Club (GRC), an amateur, volunteer based rowing club that has been located at Blackwattle Bay since 1879. In order for the club to continue in this location, the 150 members require safe water conditions.

The redevelopment of the Fish Market is long overdue and will have a positive impact for the local community, Sydney residents and visitors. It is an ideal opportunity to open up the land around Blackwattle Bay for use by the community. Nonetheless, I object to some important aspects of the proposed development and request:

- improved analysis of the impact on water traffic be undertaken and factored into the design and Master Plan;

- modifications be made to the design of the Eastern Wharf to ensure the safety of rowers; and

- the implementation of necessary safety provisions during the early works project into the construction contract to ensure the safety of water users during the long construction phase.

I have provided more detail on these concerns in this attachment prepared by my club.

Kind regards,

Charlotte Doud

I support the overall Fish Markets development as a positive for the local community and Sydney residents and visitors. It is an amazing opportunity to open up the land around Blackwattle Bay for use by the community.

My daughter is a member of Glebe Rowing Club (GRC), they have operated on the water of Blackwattle Bay since 1879. They have about 150 members and they enjoy very much the use of the water around the bay and the current Fish Market.

I support the overall Fish Markets development as a positive for the local community and Sydney residents and visitors. The state of the market currently is very much dilapidated and very much in need of a make over. It is an amazing opportunity to open up the land around Blackwattle Bay for use by the community.

I object to some important aspects of the proposed development and request:

The New Sydney Fish markets is in the wrong place.
It would be cheaper for the taxpayer to build a temporary building on the proposed site and then rebuild a new design on the original site.
the fishermen and the traders are holding the state to ransom just because they do not want to be disrupted.
the government for decades have been trying to renovate the markets with no results manly because the coop can not agree. This proposal is totally in the wrong place for transport access and for the size of the proposed site plus putting more trucks onto the roads. At present the trucks take one turn and are on to the Anzac bridge and on the highway system this proposal puts trucks into the residential streets.
the streets around Wentworth Park will have to be made no parking to accommodate the length of the trucks and to make the traffic flow.
Building on the proposed site is 2 floors higher (28.00AHD) than originally advertised(24.5AHD) so site lines from the park -which was a selling point- will be closed.
Originally the new build was going to accommodate the historical coal loader NOW you are proposing to demolish.
The geotech report is very inconsistent with sandstone bed samples looking unstable for the weight anticipated over water.
Road access talks of circulation principles that seems like a one way system around wentworth park??
The opportunity to do a real world class fish market is lost on this project. Reality is the wholesale should be moved closer to the airport-where the fish come from.
this over priced lemon is only been done to appease the wholesalers.....wrong decision.
the market should be where the transport and the land mass is and that is on the land where it sits at present.
The movement of big freezer trucks on Wentworth park and bridge roads is a future nightmare residents on wentworth park road will be living on a highway.
the Park which has already been used for open space by the over development in Ultimo will be stretched even more.
Wentworth Park at the head of the bay is the perfect vista for future Sydney from the park at the moment veiw to the brigde through the wonderful trees. but now this will be blocked by a huge building with masses of trucks and buses.
The new proposal will be a noisy 24/7 development right next to a high school not to mention polution levels for young brains.
Please re access and rebuild on to the original site.
