I am employed at Mangoola and live in Muswellbrook with my family. Our three young children attend local schools with our eldest at University. We shop locally, eat in local restaurants, use local services and enjoy being part of the Muswellbrook Community.
I am proud to work at Mangoola. Recently my family visited the mine and were able to see the fantastic rehab that has already taken place, they know I work for an environmentally responsible employer and that the approval of the Mangoola Coal Continued Operations Project will provide our family with local employment stability and leave the Lease in great condition when the mining is finished.

I’m currently a second year apprentice at Sawyer’s air conditioning ( local contractor on site ). I live locally which allows me to spend locally and support local communities throughout the upper hunter. This will provide me to learn new things in a different environment and will bring more opportunities for people to work and will bring more people to the area which will be good for locally owned businesses.

The Continued development and expansion of our Thermal Coal industry is not just critical to the Hunter Community through it's creation of thousands of local mining jobs and many more thousands of support services. It is essential to continue to provide NSW and the wider east coast electrical Grid with a base load fuel supply, which will allow the state to keep their heaters on in Winter and Fans spinning in Summer.
Mangoola mine in particular is one of, if not the most remote Minesite in the Hunter Valley far from the eyes of our tourists that frequent the valley and far enough away that the minimal dust that is generated from their activities is negligible in the towns closest to the mine.

Muswellbrook community needs the Mangoola North project to be approved. We need to keep the current people who work at Mangoola employed and putting money back into the small town. Not only will this project keep those already employed in a job for longer it will create more jobs for the upper Hunter. There will be more on going employment offered to those who live in the local community, our children will have an opportunity to gain apprenticeships to secure their future. Mangoola May be a small mine on the scale of things but the way they give back to the community they lead by example. Mangoola has the best rehabilitation of the land once it has been mined that it leading the way for other mines to follow in their footsteps.
Their are no foreseen negatives for why this project shouldn’t go ahead only positives!
Let’s keep locals employed, let’s create more jobs and let’s put the land back to the way it was before mining.
This is Mangoola!

I work for Glencore Mangoola. I live and contribute locally to the area with my family. Without this extension and continued operation of Mangoola, I would be force to relocate out of the area. I have personally seen great things Mangoola have done for the community and the environment of the local area.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing this submission in full support of the Mangoola Coal Continued Operations Project.

I own and operate Harvey Recruitment, a small business in Muswellbrook that provides Labour and Recruitment services to Mangoola Coal. I am proud to say that Mangoola Coal has provided support to my business since it started in 2010. Currently we have approx 60 employees within the business, retained in various capacities. In turn, this results in 60 families to provide employment and income for each week.

Our employees all reside locally and as such, Muswellbrook and the surrounding communities reap the financial and economic growth benefits of a flow on effect of families contributing to the local economy. This comes through many different avenues with the largest sector being Education, as there are over 100 children between our families attending local schools. Supermarkets, restaurants, local sporting clubs and charities to name a few, also enjoy a supplementary benefit from Mangoola Coal being in operation.

Additionally to the above, my husband is also employed by Mangoola Coal and has been so for close to a decade. Both my family and my employees’ families livelihood as we know it depends on the continuation of Mangoola Coal.

I believe that Mangoola Coal contribute greatly in the area, offer their support, sponsorship and sustainability to the community, and take their environmental responsibility very seriously.

Should you need anything further please do not hesitate to contact me.

This expansion project is critical to the longevity of the local community when considering the significant financial contributions, employment opportunities, and community investment - direct and indirect. The rehabilitation work carried out by the Mangoola operations are world-class (I have participated in a rehab tour on this site) and should be used as an example of best practice for the area, a training and education tool for the other mining operations in the area and around the state.

Mangoola coal provides employment and economic stimulation for the local community . with the pressure of drought upon us any loss of employment in the area would be a major catastrophe for the local community. the more jobs we can create the better.

to whom it may concern ,
I am writing to show our support for the Mangoola coal continued operations project .
as the director of sawyers air conditioning which employs 12 people we/I strongly support the extension.
Mangoola coal has provided sawyers air with consistent work for the last 3 years , and we feel very fortunate to have such large corporations in our local area to help with local employment .
Mining in our local area is the biggest provider of employment and without companies such as glencore Mangoola many jobs are at stake .
scone itself being a rural town limits the opportunities for apprentices and workers alike, and with the continued support of Mangoola we can maintain our current employment and consistently employ new apprentices every year to learn valuable skills and become qualified tradesman .
being a small company and working with such a large corporation such as glencore Mangoola I cannot commend them enough on their professionalism and understanding conducting business with us .
currently at the moment Mangoola supplies sawyers with about 50% of its current workload and without the support of Mangoola it would put us under extreme pressure to maintain our current employee figures and employ new apprentices .

I object the project as it has been known that china and japan, our top buyers of coal are moving to cleaner energy. In 2023 they will stop buying coal from Australia, financially i strongly object to the coal mine being extended both in land and future monies. As for the environmental impact it is not worth it.

This project supports a lot of local families including my family which I work for myself and contract to this mine and has supported me and many locals for ten years. It has a great way of safe mining and focus on the environment in all aspects which I am proud to work for, it is very important this project goes ahead for many families and the mining economy as Mangoola is a leading example of world class open cut coal mine.
