We believe the proposed development is unsuitable for the area given the
huge increase in heavy truck movements. Access from Somersby
Industrial estate is already difficult southbound to Sydney on ramp
due to truck traffic. Further concern is air quality from on site
crushing of concrete containing silica with residential homes
literally across the road. Our staff as well as all other business
along Gindurra Rd will be put at risk

I highly object to the proposed waste dumping at Somersby., Somersby is a
beautiful spot full of wildlife with many residents living in the
area, It has schools and houses etc. By letting this take place we
will destroy a lot of the natural habitat of the wildlife not to
mention the health hazards it will create for both animals and humans.
The constant truck noise will make it unbearable to live for some
people. I urge that we don't turn a beautiful are into a dumping
ground ruining more of Australia's natural beauty.

Please stop deadly silicone dust from destroying our environment in
Somersby. As a 94 year old resident I am very concerned about our air
quality, the destruction of wildlife habitat and the ever increasing
amount of trucks endangering the safety of local residents.

I am a 96 year old man and vehemently object to the proposed wasted
dumping at Somersby. I want my grandchildren to know Somersby as a
natural habitat for wildlife, not a dumping ground for industrial
waste. I want them to breathe the air freely without contamination.
The residents of Somersby deserve better.

I am disappointed that Somersby is to be used as a dumping ground for
waste. I strongly object to this happening because of the hazards to
residents and the native wildlife. I worry it will affect the water
and also that Somersby will lose its place as a tourist attraction.
The use of trucks constantly using the roads will make life very
difficult for the residents of Somersby. Somersby has a school that
may also be affected. I would like to stop if from happening.

I object to the proposal due to the risk of serious health conditions.
Whilst a waste management facility is required to deal with waste, one
that risks the community's health needs a serious rethink. If, as many
people have suggested, silica dust is released and blown on the wind,
it can have a great impact on people's lives. Surely there is a better
solution. I feel that all levels of Australian government are
backwards in their thinking. They claim to be leaders in the world,
yet we as a nation are dragging our feet. Even poorer countries are
more liberal in their thinking and choose the wellbeing of their
citizens above profits.

We strongly objec to the proposed Development Application on the
following grounds:
tDEADLY Silicosis dust in the air affecting schools, families &
businesses.
WE grow organic pecan nuts which we sell locally and export overseas.
Contamination by the dust of unknown ontent will greatly compromise
our claims to pristine soil and proct, as well as posing a danger to
our and our workers health as we work outside.

Destruction of local wildlife (birds, owls, wallabies & possums) their
habitats & food source, including 1.5 hectares of the endangered
Eastern Pygmy-Possum habitat.

Ongoing 24/7 crushing activities, which will cause offensive noise,
dust and possibly vibration to our premises including farm house,
manager's office and worker 'saccommodation.

Offensive smell caused by stockpiling of industrial waste.

Visual pollution. The Plant/Building would be a visual eyesore and out
of character with the surrounding forest landscape and rural
residential blocks.

Adverse health impact. Reduced air quality to the children and
teachers of Kariong High School, Riding for the Disabled Association,
events run at Mt. Penang Gardens, Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre
and people of West Gosford and Gosford.

Risk of asbestos in the air due to unknown industrial waste being
crushed. (It has been noted that asbestos to have already been located
on site.)

Possible destruction of Aboriginal artefacts

Turning Somersby and it's name from a tourist spot for scenery and
wildlife into a dumping area for Waste Management

This is a disgrace, I live just across the paddock, I have bad allergies
along with other family members having major dust allergies and
asthma. This proposal would cause air quality to drop dramatic which
is a huge issue for thousands of people in all surrounding suburbs.
This is a disrespectful to all living in somersby and surrounding
suburbs, Somersby should not be turned into a dust infestation or a
garbage dub.

You cannot be serious! There is Sometsby School, Kariong high school
nearby along with juvenile centre. So many resident's live in the
nearby vicinity such as Mangrove mountains, Kariong, Somersby. The
value of the property will decline insanely as well our central coast
tourism will suffer significantly!

You CANNOT be serious expecting all innocent lives breathing this
poison. Who even thought of this is clearly pathetic, and insane.
Hasn't done their research what so ever!

THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE BRINGING THIS POISON TO OUR COMMUNITY! NO
BLOODY WAY!

How can this pass with a school and residential area so close. Hope you
have good lawyers cause there will be some law suits coming. Save the
environment and people and we don't want more trucks on the road. Take
your rubbish to a more appropriate place away from festival grounds
child scare centres and beautiful water ways.

I feel this proposal is unacceptable due the close proximity to local
schools, in particular the schools on the Mount Penang Parklands, one
of which my own children attend. Central Coast Sports College is a
school where the children participate in a lot of sport and are
outdoors a lot during their school day, my 5yr old and 8yr old attend
this school. The potentially dangerous cilica dust, this close to the
school will pose a health risk.

I object to having a facility such as this so close to homes and schools
along with the destruction of 1.5 Hectares of endangered Pygmy-Possums
habitat. This does not promote healthy living with the potential of
reduced air quality due to silicosis dust, a well known future cancer
risk for our kids. On top of this it was noted in the report that
asbestos has already been located on site and the risk of this
becoming airborne with earthworks on the property is too great. To put
a facility such as this within 100 meters of schools and homes is
inconceivable, not to mention irresponsible.

I have been dealing with Eric Davis for at least 15 years sourcing
Organic Green Waste as a base product for our Soil Mixes. Initially
Green Waste was a relatively small business , but has grown to be very
large due to people like Eric, Wholesale soil producers, Local
Government and Primary Producers seeking a very good reliable ,
recycled product to put back in the earth in various products. These
days Local councils go to great lengths promoting organics and talking
themselves up about recycling. There is no doubt at all organic
composts are very good horticultural products. This site will
compliment the recycling industry and is very necessary to help the
ever expanding industry . Eric and his family are very long term in
this industry and have an excellent reputation. This site is a very
considerable investment and serve both to the north and to the south
and of course provide many local jobs , both directly and indirectly.

As a nearby resident, I oppose this development of a concrete and waste
disposal plant at Gindurra Road, Somersby. The location is not
appropriate as it is close to residents and local businesses and will
put people's lives at risk with exposure to silica dust and
potentially asbestos. This location is at the top of a hill of West
Gosford, close to a Kariong and right next to residents at Somersby,
near ovals and parks at Parklands, detention centre, a high school and
preschool. It is close to the business and residents along Manns Road,
realistically just being at the top of the hill of these areas. The
winds will easily carry the fine dust to these areas. This plant will
create significant extra traffic and noise to the area.

I'm unsure how this project can be allowed to proceed, given the
monumental impact to the environment.
The central coast remains largely a pristine area of NSW and this
development is opening the floodgates for reckless endangerment, and
has the potential to affect a largely populated area of the coast.

How the NSW EPA could consider this and equate solution is unreal.

I'm writing to voice my horror and objection to this development and I
hope the decision makers see sense. It's about time those in positions
to make ethical decisions and think firstly about the grossly negative
impact to people and the environment, rather than how lucrative the
solution will be for their pockets.
