I object to this proposal on the following grounds:

- Parramatta has a unique place in the development of colonial settlement in Australia.

- Hambledon Cottage, adjacent to the development site, is part of a trio of neighbouring colonial houses : Hambledon Cottage , Experiment Farm Cottage, Elizabeth Farm - each dating from the earliest days of settlement, each with State Heritage listing.

- The height and bulk of the proposed building, placed in close proximity to Hambledon Cottage, would dominate that small domestic building, extinguish it skyline profile, diminish its heritage value in the context of its place in our colonial history and in its present low-rise suburban surrounds.

- The proposal will also make it impossible to return the now concreted creek to its original form as a natural creek running in the low land neighbouring the three important colonial buildings.

Should this building proposal be approved, Parramatta - and indeed the nation - will lose a last chance to preserve and enhance the invaluable heritage precinct that is centred on Hambledon Cottage, Experiment Farm Cottage and Elizabeth Farm.

The pandemic has shown the need for people to have access to quiet open spaces for their physical and mental health. This development is totally inappropriate in a historic area of Parramatta, a city losing its unique character.

I object. The lack of respect this project shows to the history and culture of Parramatta and particularly the immediate triangle of Hambledon Cottage, Experiment Farm and Elizabeth Farm, interrupting the sight lines of these three extremely important, relevant and connected properties is a crime against both our heritage and thereby our future. With a bare minimum of holistic design, cultural and historic awareness with some town planning Parramatta could be something amazing but the continual disreguard and complete lack of respect for what is there is severely damaging not just to the amazing history of Parramatta but more importantly to its future.

I object to this project for the following reasons;
1. It is not “development” it is destruction; of cultural, social and ecological values in the pursuit of money. Pretending otherwise is a perversion of the meaning.
2. The height of the residential apartments is too high and blocks the view of our beloved cathedral. It also has impacts on the privacy of our parishoners. Considering we have large scale events, it would be disturbing to allow many residents to be able to see into the vicinity.
3. The development will also adversely affect the amount of parking available in suburb which is already an existing issue.

I Object to the proposal for the following reasons:
• This is not “development” it is destruction: of cultural, social and ecological values in the pursuit of money. Pretending otherwise is a perversion of meaning.
• It is inconsistent with the conservation precinct which includes Elizabeth Farm and the area has significant cultural history. The area is an excellent example of the stages of indigenous history, colonial history and the waves of migration that have occurred in the area. It is out of place in terms of the history which is so significant around it. That includes the heritage conservation area of Elizabeth Farm surrounding the parish and Hambeldon Cottage Museum which will be in front of the proposed development.
• The infrastructure in the area especially the streets and public roads, shops, and increased use of the surrounding public spaces, weren't designed to accommodate this size of housing units and the resulting traffic jams we face every day and infrastructure problems we will face in the future.
• The height of the residential apartments is considerable high and should be reduced.
• The development is considerable and will have noise impact on the surrounding Parramatta area in general.
• The development is considerable and will have an impact on parking in the surrounding area as the current infrastructure in a closed street will not manage the increased number of people who will be residing in and/or visiting the apartments. It is hard to find parking in the area as it is and we can’t even use the surrounding parks because of the lack of parking or visit the museum or heritage centre.
• The current plans demonstrate shadowing which will occur from the units which will impact on the light on the surrounding landscape, housing and buildings around the development
• The development is considerable and will have traffic impact on the community and the surrounding Parramatta area in general. The development will exacerbate the current traffic issues facing Parramatta at present. Hassall Street and the surrounding streets leading in and out of Parramatta already have major traffic issues which have not been addressed. They will be further exacerbated by a development of this size. Presently, the lots contain industrial factories and the activities do not impact on the area.
• The development is considerable and the increased number of people and possible build to rent arrangements and change in demographics and natural land and street scape is a safety concern to the large number of children and vulnerable people in the surrounding area including, childcares, schools, and Churches.

I strongly object this project as a parishioner and volunteer at Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral.
The church along with the Nursing home and the school, is a social and cultural hub providing services to over 40000 people in western Sydney. This proposed project will impact the church negatively for many reasons that I will list below, but most and foremost because it will restrict our religion freedom that includes our worshiping and celebrating our events.
Currently with one existing neighbor who is unhappy with our weddings and funeral and functions, throws rocks at the church causing damages to the church stained glass and damages in thousands of dollars, I can imagine the complains we will get wiht 489 families complaining about our church, they will end up shutting down the church.
Here are the other reasons for my objection:
1- Destructions of social and ecological values : The proposal because this is not “development” it is destruction: of cultural, social and ecological values in the pursuit of money. Pretending otherwise is a perversion of meaning.
2- The height of the residential apartments is considerable high and should be reduced.
3- It is inconsistent with the conservation precinct which includes Elizabeth Farm and the area has significant cultural history. The area is an excellent example of the stages of indigenous history, colonial history and the waves of migration that have occurred in the area. 5- The development is considerable and will have noise impact on the surrounding Parramatta area in general.
6- The development is considerable and will have an impact on parking in the surrounding area as the current infrastructure in a closed street will not manage the increased number of people who will be residing in and/or visiting the apartments. It is hard to find parking in the area as it is and we can’t even use the surrounding parks because of the lack of parking or visit the museum or heritage centre.
7-The current plans demonstrate shadowing which will occur from the units which will impact on the light on the surrounding landscape, housing and buildings around the development.
8- The development is considerable and will have traffic impact on the community and the surrounding Parramatta area in general. The development will exacerbate the current traffic issues facing Parramatta at present. Hassall Street and the surrounding streets leading in and out of Parramatta already have major traffic issues which have not been addressed. The will be further exacerbated by a development of this size. Presently, the lots contain industrial factories and the activities do not impact on the area.
9- The proposed series of buildings are substantial, overpowering and Bulky. More importantly the development is inconsistent with current natural and building landscapes the overall area in general.
10- The development is considerable and the increased number of people and possible build to rent arrangements and change in demographics and natural land and street scape is a safety concern to the large number of children and vulnerable people in the surrounding area including, Childcares, schools and Churches.
11- The proposal because it is inconsistent with the conservation precinct which includes Elizabeth Farm and the area has significant cultural history. I object to this proposal going ahead. The main reasons
the height of the building will have a major impact on our church. It will shadow the church and impose alot of problems.

I object to the project proposal for the following reasons:
1. It is inconsistent with its heritage conservation precinct surroundings of Elizabeth Farm and Hambledon Cottage Museum which have significant indigenous, colonial and cultural history which makes it out of place and shadowing the area's history.

2. It will cause parking dilemmas. As the church is surround by heritage centres, on a normal day, it is hard to find parking in the area due to the population congestion and limited public parking. With a considerably large development, there will be further impact on parking in the surrounding area because the current infrastructure of this closed street will not manage the increased number of people who will be residing in and/or visiting the apartments.

3. It will strongly impact the traffic in the community and the surrounding Parramatta area in general as the infrastructure is not designed to accommodate this size of housing. Currently, Hassall Street and the surrounding streets leading in and out of Parramatta already have major traffic issues which have not been addressed. Roads need to be designed to accommodate for such a heavy flow of traffic.

4. The 8-level buildings which will house a considerable amount of people, will cause overshadowing of the surrounding landscape, impacting on the light of the current church and housing.

5. It will also be a safety concern to the large number of children and vulnerable people in the surrounding area including, childcares, schools, and Churches.

6. It is a destruction of our cultural, social and ecological values in the pursuit of money.

Thank you.

This development is not in keeping with the surroundings. The bulk of the buildings will overpower the heritage facilities near as well as Our Lady of Lebanon Co Cathedral worry on Alice Street. The volume of traffic will also have a detrimental affect on the surrounding streets and infrastructure. This development must not proceed in its current format.

I only learned that objections were due today and have had little time to review all the documentation.

But it is not necessary. One only has to look at the scale and location of the proposal to see it is totally inappropriate. One of the greatest joys of this part of Harris Park is the huge ancient Araucarias associated with the three exceptionally significant colonial houses (Elizabeth Farm, Hambeldon Cottage and Experiment Farm) that mark this place. The proposed development sits between the three, forever destroying the relationship between them as connected by these gigantic trees.

The ability to 'read' a landscape through its gigantic sentinel trees is like reading Paris through the Eiffel Tower, or London through the done of St Paul's Cathedral. It is a unique and powerful experience and one unique to Australia and especially early colonial NSW. To put towers between these three properties, the oldest group of houses remaining in Australia, is outrageous. That it should have developed this far when it is so obviously inappropriate says so much about the total failure of the planning system in this state to protect our heritage.

I object in the strongest possible terms.

Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral is a heritage icon in the Parramatta area of Sydney. A vital site for our Maronite faith, we need to be able to have access and not be blocked or withheld from that. This building poses many challenges and barriers to practicing our faith and culture. Heritage, ruining ecology, parking issues, conservation, cultural landmark and religious practice are just some of the few issues that have not been appreciated in the management of building these units!

I object to this project as its high resident capacity will significantly add to the already congested population density and traffic caused by the multiple surroundings such as the primary school, college, and a parish. Furthermore, it undermines the conservation of cultural heritage and history of the indigenous community facilitated through Elizabeth Farm and the Hambeldon Cottage Museum which will be in the front of the proposed development.

i would like to object for this project for several reasons:
- as i am regularly in the area and the traffic is bad enough already, this development will make it harder for me visit as it will increase traffic in Hassle Street.
- Furthermore, parking in the area is already difficult too and the challenge to park will only increase with this development.
- the area also includes 3 of the oldest houses in western Sydney, if not Sydney, Elizabeth Farm, Experiment Farm and Hambledon Cottage. The size of this development overpowers the area and is inconsistent with the heritage precinct and impacts an area of significant cultural history.
- the height of the residential apartments is significantly higher of any residential building in the area and should at least be reduced to fit in the existing character of the area
- the development is significant in size and will have a detrimental noise impact on the Parramatta area in general.
- In addition, as a Parishioner of Our Lady of Lebanon, the combination of these things will impact my ability to participate in the Our Lady of Lebanon community and freely practice my religion.
