Our State and Federal Governments need to withdraw from fossil fuel investment, reject all proposals for new or expanded coal mines and start transitioning into renewables in a much larger capacity. The science of global warming is undeniable and the government has to stop ignoring it and start pulling our weight. If we don't take drastic steps now the natural disasters we have been witnessing over the last few years will only continue to occur, more frequently and more ferociously. We are not prepared for this and the harm it is doing to our people, our natural environment and also to our economy is immense.
This proposal should NOT proceed under any circumstance!

I wish to make a submission in support of the Glendell Continued Operations Project. With other mine sites such as Liddell and Muswellbrook Coal coming to the end of their mine life at a similar time as Glendell, I am concerned with the potential impact to the local community with regards to job opportunities, job loss, property prices and decline of local population and services to the area.
I work locally and have involvement with my career at Glendell Coal and can see the positive impact that Glencore and Glendell contribute to the local community. A positive impact that can continue and increase with the extension of the project. With 690 + new job opportunities to be made, this can only have a positive affect on the continued growth of our local area adding to increased amenities and infrastructure. Also contributing a royalty revenue stream flowing to the NSW government, adding to benefits NSW wide.
The mining downturn in 2013-2016 had a detrimental affect upon the Singleton/ Muswellbrook region. Losing this extension combined with the closures of other local mine sites will have a similar affect, which is best to be avoided.

Many people in Singleton and surrounding areas either work in the mining industry or are in a business which supplies goods or services in varying degrees. Even businesses which have no direct contact, still benefit from the population of Singleton buying goods and services from them. I have grown up in Singleton and it used to be a dairy town, but this obviously did not financially impact upon the residents as much as mining has done for the benefit of the town. I have seen mines close before and the ripple effect to Singleton is very apparent and quite devastating. For example, the people who used to work at the mine generally are forced to leave town, which affects the prices of homes and the rental houses are usually the worst affected. The shops suffer as people become nervous about spending money. Singleton is now very much a mining town and mines opening and closing are big news and even bigger concerns for us all. I work at Glendell Mine, so I am very familiar with the surrounding countryside which is almost totally mining. There are a lot of people who work directly for Glendell, and even more contracting companies who depend on the work this mine provides. These companies are not only local to Singleton, Muswellbrook and other close by towns, they are also from Maitland, Cessnock, Newcastle and further afield. We are a hard working group of people and have pride in where we work and we are all very much invested in Glendell Continued Operations Project going ahead.

I believe this project should go ahead because of the economic contribution it would provide to local businesses, the NSW Government in royalties and the people of the Hunter Valley. Glencore are a reputable and safe mining company who act responsibly and support local communities.

Mining supports all local communities, allowing us to live and thrive. Until we can discover a more sustainable and practical way to live, the Hunter Valley needs mining.

Glendell Mine is a major contributor of employment and funding to the Singleton & Surrounding community and it would be disappointing to see that end and miss out on the potential economic & employment benefits.

I support the project as Australia needs to maintain as much industry as possible, sustaining good employment opportunities for our residents and keeping local mining and business communities alive. Closure would destroy this community. Australia does not need more closures.

This is a great opportunity for the further development of the Hunter Region.
Stead of new green fields the government should support existing operations to further expand, this way reduces the environment impacts that mining has.
Also the project will create more than 1000 jobs, construction and mining related.

The continued operations of Glendell ensures that hundreds of dependent employees, contractors and related businesses will continue to have work and be able to contribute economically to the area. There are also many businesses and charities that rely on the support of Glencore Glendell.

As an employee of Glendell open cut, I fully support this project to continue into the future. Not only for the sake of the existing employees, but for the future generation of young people that would be given an opportunity to work in environment of a safe, environmentally thoughtful and community minded company, such as Glendell open cut.

I support the Glendell Continued Operations Project as I believe that Glencore supports the Hunter Valley community through junior and senior sporting teams, local support groups for families and local youth centers. It will create over 300 jobs during the construction phase over 3 years building the Mine Infrastructure Area as well as the creek diversion and the realignment of Hebden Road. It will also continue to employ over 650 full time staff and contractors and inject over $296.1M in royalties to the NSW Government to support roads, school, and hospitals over the life of the project.
I would also like to see the Ravensworth Homestead relocated to Broke for the entire community to use. This would be a great initiative for local schools to use for educational purposes as well as a function center for corporate meetings, weddings and other events. I have personally witnessed other homesteads such as Wambo and Liddell go to ruin and have all but fallen over due to the lack of care and maintenance.

I have worked for Glendell for 8 years now and am very proud to say so they have always looked after the workforce and also the surrounding communities and environment
Having a young autistic daughter working here has allowed me to look after all her needs
This extension will not only allow me to continue to look after my family well past retirement age but will also look after the community with added jobs and income into the surrounding towns

Having thoroughly read the Environmental impact statement and the project flyer I believe that Glendell has put a large amount of focus into the economic benefits that this project will provide to the local communities and the state government. The undertaking of moving the Ravensworth homestead to the Broke community is a massive project and cost to Glendell that has had a huge amount of community consultation and research. This project alone is an amazing opportunity for the Broke community to be involved with. I believe that from previous and current records of operation, Glendell's commitment to protecting the environment surrounding the site is industry leading and proves that they will continue this standard into the future. I fully support the extension of Glendell mine. The benefits of this project clearly outweigh the disadvantages from the mine expansion/continuation

To the authoritative divisions that manage this project,

I object to the proposed physical and chronic extension of the Glendell Mine. Given the current state of environmental catastrophe on a national and global scale, any further activity that proliferates human reliance on archaic fossil fuels is to the detriment of all current and future life on this planet.

I object to the extension of 140 million tonnes of coal until 2044. Our environment and therefore our future cannot sustain this and the Hunter Valley would be put at considerable risk of further catastrophes as are happening now. I believe renewable energies should be persude.
