I support the Berrima Rail Project
The Berrima rail project is a critical infrastructure project for the Hume Coal Mine. This rail project is of small foot print and will secure the rail access for the mine.
The economic benefits will be significant for the region while environmental impacts will be small. The project is designed to be best practice and industry leading in terms of minimising environmental impact.

I have worked in the coal industry for over 20yrs and lived in and around communities that have flourished with the positive impact that mining has brought to the region. Underground coal mines have demonstrated that they have minimal impact on the environment and on existing industries. This project has my support.

This project will be beneficial to the Southern Highlands community, bringing long term employment opportunities to the region enabling local job seekers the opportunity to remain in the area and be closer to their families.

This project will also give a much needed boost to the local economy and will also ensure greater economic benefits flow directly to the local community.

I believe this proposal should be approved so as the appropriate infrastructure is in place to service the Hume Coal Project application. This proposal will also be of benefit to other companies already using the existing rail line, these companies include Boral Cement Ltd (Boral) who use the line to transport materials to and from the Berrima Cement Works. It is also used by Inghams Enterprises Pty Limited (Inghams) for the transportation of grain to its feed mill east of the cement works, and by Omya (Australia) Pty Ltd (Omya) for the transportation of limestone from Marulan South Limestone Mine to their Moss Vale plant at the
Berrima Junction. The Berrima branch line will also be upgraded as part of this project which will benefit the wider community. This project will also improve safety conditions on Berrima Road and create employment during its construction phase. For these reasons I believe this project should be approved.

Currently, renewable energy costs more energy than they can produce, which means they need more non-renewable power to make them.

This project will bring needed jobs to the region and with the mining method proposed will have minimum environmental impact..
The proposed rail line links to existing transport infrastructure and avoids the use of trucks for transport. This will benifit exisitng road users.

This is a very good project, since it supports the rail industry. Rail is a better way to transport goods than putting more trucks on the road.

People need industry, jobs in the area. You can't let few retired people on a couple of expensive street dictate the lives of the whole region.

This project is of vital importance to the growth and prosperity of both NSW and Australia providing desperately needed construction jobs and will enable the development of the Hume Coal Mine which will also provide a revenue source for NSW via royalties and more jobs for NSW.
With due consideration to the environment and water impacts, I believe this project should proceed.
