The SSI Process

Exhibit EIS

Giving the community a say on proposed SSI projects

Community participation is an essential part of the state significant infrastructure (SSI) assessment process.

The environmental impact statement (EIS) for an SSI project must be exhibited for at least 28 days. The exhibition provides an opportunity for the community to have their say. During the exhibition period, anyone can make a submission on the project. The EIS is published on the NSW Planing portal.

The department also seeks advice from relevant government agencies and may meet with key stakeholders to get a better understanding of community views on each project.

People can subscribe for email alert updates on the progress of each project.

For exhibitions commencing on or after 1 April 2024, all submissions for state significant projects must be made through the NSW Planning Portal.

For more information on how you can have your say on a state significant infrastructure application and how the department will manage and consider submissions, visit the Make a submission page.
