Special Activation Precincts are dedicated areas within regional NSW which have been identified by the NSW Government for the capacity of their existing endowments to drive economic growth. They bring together planning and investment support services to drive jobs and economic activity.
Special Activation Precincts are part of the NSW Government’s 20-year Economic Vision for Regional NSW and will be funded by the Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund.
Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation was established to support investment, deliver the enabling infrastructure and facilitate a streamlined planning approval process for development within the precincts.
The Activation Precinct Certification process
The Activation Precinct Certification process aims to facilitate a responsive streamlined planning pathway that will enable economic development. This will ensure that our regions are well placed to grow and meet the needs of regional communities while providing certainty and confidence to businesses regarding the required outcomes of the precinct.
The streamlined planning process is supported by each precinct’s delivery plan, which outlines the process for applying and being assessed for an Activation Precinct Certificate. A delivery plan will be developed for each Special Activation Precinct and can be found at www.rgdc.nsw.gov.au
Delivery plans will be used by the corporation and assessment authorities including other State agencies and local councils to assess proposals and provide advice to investors, landowners, proponents and businesses to understand development and infrastructure obligations the community to understand the criteria and monitoring applied to development within the precinct.
Each delivery plans will also be informed by the relevant Special Activation Precinct master plan. Master plans for each precinct are hosted on the NSW Planning Portal and can be found by visiting the NSW website.
