BASIX Certificate

The BASIX sandbox tool

We are developing a new BASIX tool which is integrated to the NSW Planning Portal.

The BASIX sandbox tool is a new beta version of the BASIX tool which is integrated into the Planning Portal. It is being developed in stages.

We launched release 1 of the sandbox tool in December 2021. It contains the higher proposed energy and thermal performance standards, and allows users to test single dwelling developments. We thank all the users who have conducted testing of the tool. Release 1 of the tool will be retired on Friday 11 March and we are no longer accepting new applications to use release 1.

Note: Release 1 of the tool will also be unavailable from 5pm on Friday 18 February to 27 February so we can complete important software system upgrades.

We invite users to apply by 7 March to use release 2 of the sandbox tool, which will be launched in late March. It will contain the same functionality as release 1 and will also allow users to test multi-dwelling developments. Release 2 does not contain the DIY thermal performance assessment method or the new materials index. These will be included in a future release of the BASIX tool.

If you would like to participate in testing release 2 of the sandbox tool, please submit your application by 7 March 2022.
