Williamtown Special Activation Precinct draft master plan

In 2023, the NSW Government completed a Strategic Infrastructure Review which included the Williamtown Special Activation Precinct.

The purpose of the review as to ensure capital expenditure delivers maximum benefit to the citizens of NSW and is aligned with the government’s strategic objectives and priorities including increasing housing supply in Regional NSW.

After consideration of the findings, the NSW Government has decided not to proceed with this project. The decision was made on the basis that funding required to address complex issues within the precinct made the development cost prohibitive.

What happens now?

The decision not to proceed with this project means that land within the proposed SAP boundary will not be rezoned, and the current land uses will remain the same. Landowners may lodge development applications in accordance with the current planning pathways.

In early 2024, the department will publish a finalisation report that provides an overview of the feedback we received during the exhibition periods. The participation of landowners, stakeholders and the community during master planning is appreciated.

The department will publish a submissions report that summarises all feedback received and how this feedback informs the final master plan.

It is expected that the master plan and submissions report will be finalised in late 2023.
