Under Consideration

The draft Moree Special Activation Precinct Master Plan

Special Activation Precincts are unique to regional NSW and bring together planning and investment to focus on growing jobs and economic activity in the local area.

Special Activation Precincts are being delivered by the NSW Government as part of the $4.2 billion Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund.

The Moree Special Activation Precinct will take advantage of Moree’s location in the most productive grain region in Australia, leveraging the Inland Rail route and Newell Highway.

The precinct will create a new business hub that specialises in agribusiness, logistics and food processing industries, to create long-term job opportunities and attract investors, making it easier for both new and existing businesses to prosper.

Technical studies have investigated environmental, heritage, social and community aspects, and together with economic considerations and community engagement, informed the development of the draft Master Plan.

The planning framework has both strategic and statutory requirements that come under a new State Environmental Planning Policy (Activation Precincts) 2020 (Activation Precincts SEPP)

This enables a more streamlined planning approval process whereby businesses can seek approval from the NSW Government, pending compliance with the Master Plan and the Activation Precincts SEPP, within 30 to 40 days, rather than the normal Development Application (DA) process.

The draft Master Plan and Discussion Paper

The Moree Special Activation Precinct 40-year draft Master Plan and discussion paper was on exhibition for community and stakeholder feedback until midnight 15 June 2021.

Thank you to those who made a submission; your feedback will inform our consideration of the final Master Plan.
